A scary question.

This has been on my mind for a while now. How likely(sp?) do you think war with China is and why? This comes from things I have heard and read. I think that war with China is very likely. The one thing that gets me is that in conversation I throw out " It doesn't really matter because we will be at war with China in under 15 years". When I say this it seems funny to some but, it hits many like a brick. So, that made me think that I had touched a raw nerve or that a ton of people just had a brain fart.

What do you think?

I believe that we are at the same point with China that we were at with Japan in the 30's. We were so anxious to sell Japan our steel back then, and it came back to us in the form of planes and bombs.
Now we slaver at the prospect of a billion Chinese whose yearly pay would never support buying our goods to any great degree, who live in a country that has effectively put up wall after wall to American imports while flooding our own market with cheap crap of every sort. They threaten to point their missiles at us when they war game Taiwan, and all Billy Jeff can do is giggle and ignore them.
As an afterthought, the current debate over banning landmines will come to haunt us in the coming American-China war, because landmines would have been particularly effective against the human wave attacks we are sure to experience. How many American moms are going to accept that their kid has to die in a trench when s/he might have been saved by a properly emplaced mine field?

War with China is a definite possibility. Hopefully forum members have already read "Year of the Rat" and "Red Dragon Rising". Both books were co-authored by Timperlake and Triplett. Write your congressman and senators ASAP, ask them to take action against Clinton and Gore regarding their involvment in the Chinagate scandal.

Actually, I think the Chinese missed an opportunity, unless Gore is elected. I'm surprised they haven't taken Taiwan yet ... I sincerely doubt Bill would put up much of a struggle.

Regarding the 'human wave' idea, help me understand how the Chinese would efficiently land men on North America? I'm not well read on the idea of war with China, but I tend to think the vast distance of the Pacific would make an invasion problematic. ('Course, it gets easier as 'we' have few weapons ...)

their will be a war in Israel first. September 13th Arafat is said to declare a palestinian state and He was warned not to by the israelis nd the ameicans. If he goes through wiht it the sh*t will hit the fan and the middle east is where the war will be.

The day the U.S. goes to war with China will be the day I shed tears for both countries. I will most definitely have conflicting emotions because I'm Chinese. I was born in the U.S., but my parents are essentially Chinese (mom from Taiwan, dad from Malaysia; overseas Chinese). Although it would be a sad day, there is no doubt it my mind that I would defend this country with my life. I just hope this country doesn't do me a disservice and declare me and my family enemies of the state.

I think it's definitely possible that the U.S. could go to war with China, but I think it's unlikely that war would erupt over the Taiwan issue.

Personally, I wouldn't lose any sleep over the possibility of war with China. Now war over China, is another story. Think about it for a second. Why are/were wars fought from Og bopping Zug on the head with a rock right up to the here and now?

In a nut shell:
Food, and someone to do your work for you.
Salt, and someone to do your work for you.
Gold, and someone to do your work for you.
Oil, and someone to do your work for you.

China got no oil. They got lots of the other.

Not really sure about a 'conventional' war with china. Nuclear is quite possible. We 'gave' them the technology (thanks bill and al).

I don't believe china has much of a navy. I heard the standing joke in Taiwan is "How are the main lands going to get here? Swim?".

An internment of any human beings in the USA, would IMO, cause a serious civil uprising, if not an all out war. Their are many of us that will not tolerate this idea.

Just my 2cts.

The invasion of the USA by the chinese wasn't even on my mind when i made my post. I was thinking about being over there and facing that. The reality of warfare is that regardless of all the smart bombs and aerial theatrics, wars are won by putting bodies on the ground and seizing that ground. That means facing stuff like the waves of people I mentioned.

We have been duped by this garbage of free trade which is actually very one-sided in favor of large corporations based here and having their goods made their.

I was involved in NAFTA trade and I can tell you the same holds true there. We are short-circuiting the lives of the average man with China and NAFTA trade while creating a serious logistics problem for basic supplies should we become embroiled in a war with China or anyone else.

The politicians promised new jobs and new job training which was an outright lie. Once again, we are willing to put our nation at risk for those who have the pockets to financially stroke the District of Criminals.

Don't rule out Russia just yet. I think we have a much greater potential there should they decide to go back to the old way or if they continue to arm rogue nations with nukes. I think if either China or Russia initiates a conflict the other will take advantage of the moment and join in. Remember, they are recently made alliances and steps toward reconcilliation.

Don't rule out Russia coming to the aid of Syria should things get really "caddiewompus" with this Jerusalem thing between Israel and Palestine.

The scary thing is that we have some idiots manning our foreign policy ship at this time. Anything could happen.

Don't fret just be right with God Almighty and you will win no matter what.

We are already at war with the Communist Chinese. It just has not gotten to the shooting stage.

The Chinese want to dominate their area of the world and think it not possible as long as the US has the capability to interfere. Long term the Chinese want to rid the Pacific of US influence (by the by, that will happen when we leave Okinawa (sp)). They will then be able to neutralize the economic strength of Japan. Indonesia will pretty much neuter itself.

That leaves Taiwan. Taiwan may not be big but its military is potent. China and Taiwan have large and strong trade relations which MAY serve to prevent shooting. I for one expect Chinese military action to take place over the Spratley Island (oil). US will have to choose to get involved. If it happens before the election, we will do nothing. If it happens after the election, we may do nothing in the area of conflict. Domestic action is a different thread. In any case, the US military right now is as weak as it will ever be. We questionably have the capability to wage the conflict, but do not have the will (c.f. Clinton, etc.). Immediately after the election our capabilities will be the same, but our will to respond may or may not change.

I think the chance of armed conflict in the Pacific in the next 10 months is high.

ok...my .02

Some of this is verified thru regular news media and some is from places like Newsmax and such. A lot of what I'm going to write is a mix-mash of things I've read and if I gotta post links it will take me another day to get it all together. Also i may sound like a fringe lunatic...so be it.

China and Russia are allies.

China has been lobbing misslies over the Taiwan straight since late last year.

China has also been running their fishing trawlers into Taiwanese waters.

China and Russia have both threatened to nuke our Western coast

China has been buying Soviet warships and warships from the Middleeast. [[India, I beleive]]

Supposedly there is a standing army of Chinese in Mexico working with the Mexican Laramda[I gotta look the word up again..that's not quite it.] who believe the lower SouthWest U.S. still belongs to Mexico. [[Check out their maps sometimes.]]

Lessee...we already know that C&G have been giving away our weapons tech and disarming our forces.

C made it clear we'd take a 'first-strike' without retaliation during the rollover-think that's changed?

Also, the launch codes/keys were removed from our subs last year and hatches welded shut on many if nt all.

We also have the un to consider...there is a bill yp [[unless it's been passed or laid aside]] that gives our soverienty to the un. And the leader[s of the un are old Soviet Russians according to agreement.

Isreal/Palestein

Iran and Iraq now have nuke tech that will let them hit the Eastrn U.S. seaboard. Rumor is that Iraq now has the capability to 'disorient' our plane launched missiles...like those protecting the 'no fly' zone.

Our Nat'l monuments and parks are now considered 'UN Boisperes' and 'UN Historical monuments'

The list goes on...

I believe that any war in the near future - say 3 to 10 - will be caused by some zealot idiot with a missle. My guess would be the Middle East.

I figure that the US and China would be more inclined to slide into another cold war with missle proliferation (assuming Gore ($%#%#$%#$#$%^#$%^#$$$%$#)isn't elected).

But all in all, I'd rather see us fighting China or Russia or Africa or Mexico, than OURSELVES.

The protection of vast oceans has been weakened. The communist chinese have one of the largest and most modern merchant fleets in the world, goverment owned of course. They have large and modern port facilities in the Americas and the Bahamas. Thanks to mssrs Carter, Clinton and Blair et all.

A rogue nation, or even a terrorist group, does not need missile capability to start a nuke war. Conceivable that the local stop n rob downtown big city will suddenly dissappear along with a major part of the population of that city. Half a meg ground burst would be horribly dirty and the weapon could go into the back room of the store lookin like a new swamp cooler waitin for the installers to put it on the roof.

Nikita Khrushchev predicted confidently in a speech in Bucharest, Rumania on June 19, 1962 that: " The United States will eventually fly the Communist Red Flag...the American people will hoist it themselves."

I'm surprise by how much folks do keep up. China has released in their white papers etc. That war with the US would happen around 2015. They feel that is how long it will take to build up.

It is very much like the situation with Japan in the 30's. Trying to avoid conflict at all cost. Engage them. That is fine when the 'other' side has no other agenda, but China does - Taiwan.

They are buying very modern equipment from Russia, stealing our secrets, getting involved in our elections, and giving us threats on one day, and then backing away the next. No, war is likely if they think we are weak. Unlikely if they think other wise.

madison
thanks bill/gore (sarcasm)

Where would the war be? Not here, there is alot of ocean to cross and our Navy, emaciated as it is, is light years ahead of theirs.

If they wanted to go nuclear, we win, easily.

The only way it could go down is in Asia, and I think the possibility of Russia and China going to war is a more likely possibility.

PS Dont worry about this crap, it just keeps you up at night and gives you ulcers.

The chinese are in Long Beach, they are building a toll road in Mexico, that extends from the south to our border, and they have 100,000 men in Panama, not soldiers but men who have all served in the military.

If they invade, then we will just have to whip their asses. There whole military
strategy is based on numerical superiority.
We beat their asses in Korea, a virtual no mans land. The next time it will be in our backyard, it is easier to shoot a varmint in my backyard than it is in the sticks.

So, let them come.

Make that a "She".

If/when we get in another "Big One" with China (or anyone else) women will not be found on the battlefield, except as nurses/doctors. You wont even see them in the air as fighter jet pilots when the Big One strikes home.

Why? Because women cant fight against a real down and dirty military force, thats why!

This politically correct nonsense will hit the fan after the first month of a REAL war.

Nuff said!

Flame on, ladies!
