A question for the lightweight aficionados

The pride of my fleet: recently customized FN Hi Power - an alloy framed HP recently imported as police surplus from Austria. It had very little wear, and I had custom sights, ambi safety, and NP3 finish applied, stocked with Spegel Rosewood. What a joy to carry at 32oz - LOADED!

Now that's what I'm talking about, form, functionality and beauty!

The only pocket carry I've ever done is to drop my M-60 in a jacket pocket or back pocket for a quick run to the local shop and rob. So I see no reason for an ultra lightweight 38 special or .357 Magnum. If someone wishes to carry an ultra lightweight handgun go for it. I just don’t see the need to abuse yourself every time you fire a handgun.

When you are Carrying a gun, you always wish it were smaller and lighter, and when you are shooting a gun, you always wish it were bigger and heavier....... you can't have both under our current uderstanding of physics...

I Carry and shoot a 9mm EMP, and wish it had a 4" barrel and a steel frame so it would be more comfortable to shoot.... but it sure is a lot nicer to tote around than the 5" all steel Government Model I used to carry.

It pretty much all comes down to "preferance".
Just two observations on the discussion:
1. When was the last time you wore out a lightweight handgun?
2. if you need to fire in self defense, I doubt you'll even notice the recoil.
