Sold many, bought more <L>, but only one real regret comes to mind... years ago, as a sub-contractor on a huge project, we got ripped off (not paid) and I sold some guns and other stuff to pay my contract labor. One gun was my wifes favorite, a 6" 586 that she could hit a dime with at 25 yards. When we recovered I tried to get it back, but the guy I sold it to was burglarized earlier that week and it was no more! Wife still talkes about that gun 20 some years later.

What I really regret is having had no other option to raise money in order to buy the guns I wanted than by selling other guns I already owned & didn't really want to ditch.

Stuff I've sold over the years...

M1 Garand (owed the IRS some dough that year)
Pedersoli 1874 Sharps replica (beautiful and fun, but too darn heavy to be practical):o
6" S&W 686 (transitioned to bigger bore revolvers):D
3" S&W 696 (just got too valuable on the market and couldn't resist the money they were bringing)
Customized Ruger MkII Govt. (replaced a 6" gun with a 4" gun that shoots equally well)
.44 mag Vaquero (fun, but I was starting to have too many .44s in the safe by then)
Winchester 88 in .243 (inheritance piece, but I'm a .30 cal. and up kinda guy)
Rem 700 in .222 (see above)
.45 Thompson replica (heavy as hell for what it did...if only it had been full auto I might have kept it)
Kimber Combat Carry (fell out of love with 1911s in general)

They were all fun and all, but I feel I have a more useful collection now overall.

The only one I really miss is the Garand, and even there....I never quite warmed up to the enbloc clips. Box mags make for a more practical gun.

I have traded 3 guns, every time I walked into the store with one gun and left with another, 2 of em I no longer liked and the other had frame damage that required the mag release to be moved to the lefty position. I don't regret the trades, but the guns were of low quality or broke so they aren't things I will ever get sentimental about.

Yes...that is correct.

When I only owned a few...

...I used to get really wrapped around the axle at the thought of selling one.

I've gotten a little more jaded since then.

Out of the hundreds I've sold, I only really miss a couple, and even then it's not crushing.

They're just guns, after all.

I traded my Ruger P90 in on a Dan Wesson Pointman Seven. Love the Dan Wesson - it's my first 1911 - and only traded the Ruger to make the purchase price a bit easier. Even though the DW is the better gun, I still miss the P90 and regret getting rid of it. Especially because what they gave me for the trade-in value wasn't all that great.
