Congrats, PigPen. I've got one of the same, but not as nice condition as yours, and customized. Those "light strikes" are often the result of kitchen gunsmiths lightening the strain screw to achieve a "light" trigger pull, and then it can't pop Magnum primers. My advice, get the Wolff Power Rib flat mainspring ($16.45, Brownell's, part #080-665-202 Kit #SWK-202).
From the catalog: "Gives fantastically improved smoothness and consistency of pull. Eliminates and possibility of stacking and provides optimum hammer actuation." etc.
It feels like you just got a $90 trigger job. I have one in my S&W 686 and I swear by it.
P.S. On my M19 I have tried Eagle Secret Service grips (smooth rosewood), Uncle Mike's (like std. issue on the 642) and the Hogue Bantam. I like the Bantam the best if you are firing Magnum loads. The Eagle's are small, but leave the pinky hanging. The Uncle Mike's are okay, but the Bantam has a better contour, IMHO. The Bantam is the stickiest, though, and the Eagle's are the slickest.
