A homemade Glock seized by police, got to give them credit for creating it.

hsingyu - how about giving us a little more information on all those "homemade" firearms.

Where did you get the images? Who are the people making them? Were they confiscated by a Chinese police department and used in evidence?

I read about this a while ago in the news. The gun restrictions in China being so strict and there being underground manufacturing companies. I think it was more companies then the average Joe Kim making them in his basement.

There is also a Wikipedia article about homemade guns in Iraq (Wikipedia...take it for what you will).

+1 on ridiculousness of gun bans. If you ban them then only the criminals will have them.

The patents have expired on most of the Glocks now and parts can be bought to build them, so this is probably what happened rather than someone actually making the parts in their hut and assembling them.JMO

Hi Mal H,

Most of the photos are from news reports from the internet, however some of the them do not say how they are manufacted other then being seized or found in the hands of criminals. I am not suprised if some are modified from airsoft/replica guns or involved real gun parts (especially that AR stock), it seems too good to be built from stratch.

The following is a news report about a man in China arrested for converting the "MP654K airsoft gun" into a real firearm and selling it on the internet. He claims no one taught him and he learnt the skills from his "experience" with airsoft. He sold his stuff to other collectors which were also arrested, but this shows how easy for someone to build a gun.

home made guns

While maybe not exactly "Home" made. With the advent of relatively affordable CNC machines these days I'm sure that there are a dozen small businesses in every medium sized town that have the ability to make guns from aluminum and steel.

Home made Browning

We once seized a partially home made Browning Hi-Power. The frame and magazine were original Browning but the slide had been fabricated from an oversized billet of brass or bronze. The gun was a straight blowback and whoever built it allowed for a heavier slide to compensate. I suspect that the frame had been stolen in the home burglary of someone who disassembled his guns for safety or security and stored the parts separately. Burglars got half a gun.

Hsingyu,

I watched the story but came away feeling very badly for the young men.
Yes they broke the laws of the land, but if I could not buy a firearm i would also build one.
I would love to hear a translation of their statements.

The very finest guns are those built from scratch.

If I were going to make a gun, I think it would be something like a Mac 10. Is there anything that can fire multiple shots (revolver or semi-auto) that would be easier to make than a M10?

Weren't the Grease Guns during WWII all stamped sheet metal? Except for the barrel of course. Is the Mac 10 a similar design?

The M10 is easier to make, I'd think, because all you need to do is bend sheet-metal flats and weld, or tac-weld it together.

The Internet if full of plans for making various types of guns, Bren guns to high quality rifles.

One only needs a modest shop and some imagination.

I'm talking good quality sporting arms, not the junk used by street gangs.

And, its legal if for your own use and not for re-sale.
