Actually (until a couple weeks ago), I was in the exact same boat as you, bamafan. That's when I found a S&W 642 at a gun show (at a good but not great price), called my dad and 15 min. later we were leaving the gun show. About 30 min. later she was happy as can be. She still hasn't shot it yet though....

She did pick it out about 3-4 months ago:p, but at the time the price was outrageous. IIRC around $900:eek: That's twice what we got it for now.

Okay. Send her past my website, please. Seriously. There's stuff there she needs to know.

And if she's really-and-truly NOT interested in having anything to do with picking her own, your best bet is probably a compact 9mm M&P with interchangeable grip panels: easy to shoot, fits different size hands, minimal recoil. (Or a Glock 19, or a compact XD9...)
