A Glock for those who HATE Glocks

Actually high standard beat H&K by years with a polymer frame 22 pistol. It's not only Glock's polymer frame that make it a revoluionary design, it's the simplicity of the design. Anyone with a punch can completely take one apart and put together.

"Get yourself a Lorcin and lose that nickel plated sissy pistol."

Lets see now, first there was the Smith $ Wesson Smegma, which turned out to be a world class POS and now this pretender. What is it that they say, about imitation being the sincerest form of flattery?

HS2000 is an extraordinarily well-engineered and executed firearm.Whatever it has borrowed from other designs (Sig and Glock) it has improved upon; to wit the massive frame rails. To these features have been added useful features such as chamber loaded indicator and cocking status indicator both easily seen and/or felt in the dark. Not to mention the grip safety.

I have shot the HS2000 in 9mm and it has been 100% reliable with wide variety of ball and JHP, standard and +P.

I read one report in a gun magazine that accuracy was poor. Not so! Mine shoots better than most of my other pistols (except Sig P210).

The grip is extremely comfortable for me (medium-small hand; and feels like a gun, not like a brick or a 2X4.

I would bet on this gun in the most difficult circumstances. Can't say this about some others I have had/disposed of such as Steyr M40.

I know, when you see Made in Croatia, the first reaction is "Where?". But this gun exhibits superb external AND internal workmanship. IMHO better than Glock; and I have always been favorably inclined towards Glocks.

I can't wait to get this model in .357Sig, a cartridge that I like very much. Importer says early in 2001.

Actually, Made in Croatia is your guarantee of quality, for two reasons:

1. The newly re-formed countries of the former Soviet Bloc need to export to the West to bring hard currency into their economies. In a field like pistols, where the average market quality is high, they have to deliver comparable quality at a decent price to overcome brand loyalty. They're really pushing this as a police sidearm, and they will not get departmental sales unless the pistol holds up.

2. Given the political instability in that region, if a Croatian is making a pistol, I think he'd make a damned good one in his own self interest. If Slobodan Milosevic really did lose the election, he might drop in on Croatia next. :)

I have seen a couple of these at a dealer and a gun show. Handled the latter, felt good in the hand. If I were to buy one I would wait for the .357 SIG to come out. By then there will be more user reports from the field.

Trivia fact: The "HS" stands for Hrvatski Samokres -- literally, "Croatian Pistol".

I don't hate Glocks, but I do like bargains. If they are in the $300 range that would be a great deal. Don't think high capacity mags will be available to the general public though
