A Glock 19, with a hammer...

Yet some people can't seem to wrap their minds around the idea that hammers on handguns are a negative just as they are on long guns.

Well that settles this thread...

Could we not likewise argue that "some people" are so caught up in chasing the latest and greatest super-duper, hi-cap plastic striker blaster that they lose sight of the inherent benefits of hammer fired pistols?:D

We're all different and that's why its nice to have options.

P99 is DA/SA with decocker to DA.

It has the same (but lighter) SA as the PPQ.

Almost the same size as the 19.

The P-07 trigger didn't do it for me. Long reset and not a distinct SA break.

Why would anyone want a handgun with an exposed hammer. Shooters figured out over 100 years ago that rifles and shotguns without exposed hammers were more rugged and reliable than versions with exposed hammers. Yet some people can't seem to wrap their minds around the idea that hammers on handguns are a negative just as they are on long guns.

The reason for an exposed hammer on a handgun has to do with reholstering of the weapon. An exposed hammer allows the user to put his or her thumb over the hammer (or under with a "cocked" hammer) alerting him or her to any movement of the trigger due to snagging on the holster or clothing.

I get the idea of slightly different trigger pulls in a DA/SA firearm but what exactly is the major negative of an exposed hammer you are so certain of? Or have you not wrapped your head around the concept that different people can make different judgements on what they prefer and have a different opinion than you?

Cajun Gun Works is THE answer for trigger work for the CZ P-07.

You can purchase the kit (Pro Grade) for $225. The instructions are CZ forums.us or you can purchase the pistol directly from CGW or send it to them.

It will be a much nicer pistol than the Sig at that point.

I never mod the triggers on carry guns, so I wouldn't do that with a P07.

I have shot a Cajun slicked up 75 and I agree, their work is real, real nice. Ive also shot Sigs slicked up by Bruce Gray and those are wonderful as well.

How's the DA trigger pull vs a typical hammer fired gun?

Also does the striker indicator on the P99 protrude when the trigger is being pulled? Can you ride it with your thumb like you can a PPS?

Be aware that you tell them what it's for.

Mine has an 8.75 lb DA smooooth, non-stacking pull and SA extremely crisp/no creep 3.75 lbs with very little overtravel. Reset is 2.7 mm.

P-07 if you want to stay with polymer, but if you're willing to entertain an alloy then CZ PCR all day long! I've had the P-07 and it's a very good gun, almost identical in size to the 19, but so is the PCR, just heavier. IMO, I'd go PCR.

The P99 striker does not stick out as you pull it back. It only lightly protrudes when the striker is cocked. Has red paint on it too.

The DA in the P99 is like any other.

You can also decrease this pull weight with a glock spring.

Having owned a P99 and a P30 together, the appeal of the exposed hammer did not make up for the miles apart difference in trigger. The P99 has a much better pull, length, and reset.
