A British gun poll on us...VOTE!!

Done.

The comment I left: The U.S. doesn't need more gun laws because that would make the U.S. more like England.

OK, I was being snide, but I said it anyway.

Done. Looks like we're catching up. :)

Comment: If you want to give up your rights...Fine...but leave ours alone. Seems you still haven't learned that after 224 years!

ROTFLMAO :D

Here's the current standing..50.95 to 49.04....were closing the gap.....I politely left a comment that they basiclly could keep there socialistic form of govt, we didnt care what they thought in the 1700's and we dont care today either...fubsy.

I voted and made a comment along the lines of "Firearms are used in America to deter criminal acts more often than to commit criminal acts."

Done, and I included a letter to the editor which I had just written for our local paper here in Milwaukee. Feel free to criticize if you like:

To the editors:

There are currently over 80 million gun owners in the US, of which I
am one. 99.8% of us will never use our guns in any type of crime. To
the contrary, as many as 2.5 million of us every year will use our guns
to thwart criminals. Most often, the criminals are scared away or held
for police. In a few hundred cases of the gravest extreme, the criminals
are killed. The public usually does not hear of the non-lethal
confrontations, for the simple reason that there is not a much news value
to a headline that reads "a criminal ran away."

For those confronting the criminal, though, the experience is
heart-pounding, and never forgotten. As sweaty hands grasp the gun,
questions swirl: where can I hide? Do I shoot? The majority of armed
confrontations last only a few seconds. Calling 911 is not an option.
Fumbling with a trigger lock or other device, even with the steadiest of
hands, is an invitation for the criminal to advance. It is an experience no
rational person wishes to have.

The goal of the Million Mom March is one shared by all Americans,
including gun owners: an end to senseless killings. However, if some
factions of that group are successful in their efforts to ban handguns and
require mandatory locking of guns, there will be an unintended
consequence they may not have considered: hundreds of thousands of
citizens who previously would have walked away from a crime scene
will now instead be carried away.

The road to ruin, it has been said, is paved with good intentions.

Done. and added this: comments=The problem is recidivism. 80% of violent crime in America is by a repeat offender. Put them in Prison and make it a lousy experience. Gun laws only affect law abiding people who are not the problem.

The Tally Ho :D was 50.64% against VS 49.35% for gun control when I was there.

51% no

48.99% yes

Keep hammering these pricks

It's tighter now.

49.07% Yes
50.92% No

Also left them with a couple of comments that probably wont see the light of day.

Done. Still the same results as EQP reported.

If you're not a little upset with the way the world is going, you're not paying attention.

Just votes and we are now ahead by a couple of points

Gee, I wonder where their bias is....?

quote:
Epoll results: A tiny majority, 50.2 per cent felt that US gun laws should not be tightened. A large proportion of voters, 49.8 per cent felt that they were not tight enough, however.[/quote]

On the chance that a moderate comment would be printed I submitted the following:

"I have heard that the English view America's gun laws as barbaric and antiquated. Perhaps. Perhaps not. But while America has more guns and less crime than in any time in recent history, in England the opposite is apparently true."
