A ban bush could reverse...but WON'T

I rarely see this discussed (probably because people tell themselves there's nothing they can do about it, which is a lie).

Here's some guns that Canadians can buy but our "protector" G.W. Bush won't let us buy (despite being an alleged "conservative" whatever the hell that means anymore):

I expect this post to bring the bush apologists out of the woodwork, not to mention the gun snobs who will say "those guns are butt ugly," which is partially true, but when did "men" start caring about looks and "fashion?" About the time the federal tyrants chopped their sacks off with the 1968 gun control act.

If this doesn't make your blood boil then I will invite you to finish writing that check to the RNC/DNC:

Stripping the "sporting purposes' clause out of the GCA'68 would render the import ban null and void as would import restrictions that prevent other guns from coming into the country as a result of BATFEces subjective criteria.

Well I guess if President Bush won't allow those guns into the country, we'll have to rely on Hillary, or Kerry, or some other gun-lover to get the job done.

These aren't covered by the import ban, the '68 GCA, or the sporting purposes regulation, but by sanctions against the Chinese government, the owner and operator of Norinco. In 1994-95, the company was involved in attempting to sell automatic weapons and surface to air missiles to gangs within the US, and in 2003, sanctions were imposed for its involvement in selling missile parts to Iran.

Norincos are banned because they sell weapons to our enemies.

Of course, Bush could probably loosen import restrictions greatly if he wanted to.

original by btr;Norincos are banned because they sell weapons to our enemies
. :p

There are other so call allies such as Israel who also sell weapons to our enemies as well as spy on our country and sell that info to the highest bidder also, and their weapons are not banned.

Who was it that confiscated the guns in NO after the flood, was it the military or the local police. I thought most of the locals were busy looting and steeling.:D

How come I can buy other crap all day long with made in China on it. But I cant buy firearms made in China? Dont you think that the military is benefitting from all the other made in China Crap?

Even my Federal Civil Service Pin says made in freakin China.

If they are serious about sanctions ban all items made in China.

Just another way to ban firearms they dont want us to have.

Wake up and smell the BS........

P.S If Bush and the neocons were true second amendment folks they would get rid of the GCA of 68. All we need are laws to prosecute the criminals who misuse firearms, not laws to make criminals out of law abiding citizens.

From what I've heard, these new Norinco knockoffs are as good as the real thing. If they are, for $459, which one would you want?

To have my hands on an M14 again.....

Forget the Chinese ban. I'm pissed about Bush 1's import ban on foreign semiautos. It's absolutely ridiculous that you can more easily buy a Sig 550 in Canada than here.

Galil, HK, Aug, Valmet, FNC, AR70, FAMAS - arrrrgggghh! Why won't the lord supreme of conservative values give us back our nice Eurostyle military rifles?

off topic, deleted... Al.

(Back on topic) I too would buy one of those norinco m-14s in a second if they were allowed into the country.

Push coming to shove, I suspect that W is no more pro gun than his father was, which might answer some questions.

Well I guess if President Bush won't allow those guns into the country, we'll have to rely on Hillary, or Kerry, or some other gun-lover to get the job done.

One is reminded of Atwater's comments. The Republicans can do ANYTHING to gun owners and they'll still vote for them on the premise that the Democrats will be worse.

original by 1badf350: the VP is very pro gun.

Just because he has one does not mean he is pro gun for US. Just about all of the "shots" who sponser gun controlls carry or have body guards who do.

Don't all these "leaders" place a wet finger in the air to check the political wind? Perception rarely seems to relate to reality. "Yeah, he's a good guy"..."He is? What's he done?"
If this society felt as strongly "pro gun" as is the feeling here, politicians would be holding shooting competitions at politcal rallies.
Unfortunately for us political integrity and loyalty in a pluralistic or worse hyper pluralistic society is all done with mirrors.:(

At the risk of going off the subject, it's incumbent on all of us to educate the ignorant. Personally I take someone "new" shooting as often as possible.
It the easiest "sell" you'll ever make!:)
