.45 gets my vote

All are good calibers, but If I just had to choose one..it would be the .45. Gezz..those heavy bullets even hurt if someone throws em at ya!

I just ordered 1000 230gr fmj bullets for reloading and the small box of them weighs 20lbs!Almost threw my back out trying to lift them:)

I own pistols chambered for both 9mm (G19) and .45 ACP (G21). If you put a gun to my head and forced me to choose one of them, I'd take my G21.

People seem to forget that the average size of the populace has jumped greatly since the invention of both the 9 and the 45. The 9 was sufficient, but is now waining in effectiveness IMHO. The 45 continues to be effective. Determined people simply take more power to put down today than yesterday.

I have had a friend for about 30 years who is a huge fan of the BHP and 9mm in general. I have been hooked on .45ACP 1911's for a lot longer than that, but in the last few years I have become fond of my FEG 'HiPower'. With a 17round mag and one in the tube it is 18 rounds of HydraShock in one handy package. It is accurate and reliable and I like it.
My all-time favorite is still my Colt LWC .45ACP. Old habits are still hard to break.
