9mm Sledgehammer Recomendations

Add the CZ 75 to your list. I also like the CZ P07 and PO9. If you want to go cheaper the Cannik TP9V2 is also a good choice. They can be had for around $339. They are a clone of the walther p99. The CZ's are in the mid $400's. There are a lot of good choices out there in your price range.

Dang this post took off haha. Thank you for your Recomendations. I'm going to add the CZ series to my testing list. So far I have the M&P 9 and VP9 under my belt. I already own a Glock 30s. Love it but need to stock up on my 9mm Arsenal now. I also have a beretta 9mm so their clones are not new "however the CZ while it is a clone I know" is just so sexy. I'll report back with my testing results.

Be sure to look for Glock's new pocket pistol.

No doubt photoshop, someone sent this to me.

Love it! They should produce this! I would buy it!!

Well, knowing that you want to be able to conceal, I would definitely say the P-07 and not the P-09. The P-09 is just a tad big to realistically conceal IMO. They also make a CZ-75 compact, basically just a scaled down version of the CZ-75B, as well as the RAMI but the RAMI is a subcompact and it looks like you're looking more in the compact size range.

If you want to save a little money, Canik and EAA also make very good CZ-75 clones and each has a compact version. For Canik I believe it is the C-100, and for EAA it is the B6P compact. I'd foot for the CZ's if I had the cash, but either of those two would also be good options as well, just less aftermarket.

As always and as already mentioned it is best to rent as many as you are considering to see what works out best for your needs.

The P226 is a grand pistol but I doubt you will find a nice 9MM one for $500 even used but you might get lucky.

Out of your list if you want a hammer fired pistol I highly recommend trying out the SIG SP2022. It is a terrific pistol and my best buy recommendation for a poly frame hammer fired pistol. I have one and just love it. I also own other SIGs including the P226 and P228 plus HKs, Walthers, CZ, and Glock 19 but my SP2022 hangs right there with all of them in regards to accuracy/trigger quality/reliability/durability. I have over 4000 rounds fired through mine and never a single issue.

Out of your list if you want a striker fired pistol I would recommend trying the Glock 19.

If you have no preference between hammer fired or SF then the Glock 19 would have the edge as a CCW pistol and the SP2022 has the edge as a range pistol, at least for me.

Good luck!

Hello all, at the next gun show I'm going to go looking for a new 9mm, or 45.

I have narrowed it down to a few specifically I am looking at I was just calling to get opinions and even suggestions on other guns that you may suggest.

So far I have
M&P 9/45
Sig 2022
Sig 226
Glock 19/21
The only pistol in the above list with which I have any appreciable experience is the G19. That said, I went through the whole "I need a polymer 9" selection process a few years ago. I settled on the G19 and have been very happy with that choice.

As an overall package, the G19 is hard to beat. Size, weight, simplicity, reliability. These days, there may be pistols as reliable as the G19, but I doubt there's many more reliable. Mind you, I'm not claiming Glocks are perfect. My slide lock spring broke at ~400 rounds. (Which drew a lot of "how in the hell did you break a Glock?!?" from my Glock fanboy friends....) I've not had a hiccup in about the last 1000 rounds, though. (knock on wood) She goes bang when she should, and bullets go where I want. Maintenance is minimal (which is a good thing for me).

The M&P feels really good in the hand (though I haven't shot one), and ergonomic debates often go to the M&P. I love my Glock, but they don't fit everyone's hand. CZs also get high marks in that regard, though I've handled precious few of them.

I know so little about the Sigs in your list that I'll just leave them to folks who know more than I.

G19.

Every other gun is way oversized for the 9-minimeter.

Think: the minimeter is a small cartridge of small power; therefore, a small-ish pistol is indicated.

Not the Beretta/Taurus 92FS, nor the Sig 226.

If it has to be a Sig, the best model having a proper size-to-power ratio chambered in 9mm is the early (non-rail) 228.

A large T-shirt isn't oversized compared to a medium, it just fits a different segment of users. There's no reason "as small as mechanically possible" should be considered the end goal of gun design.

I'm going to buck all trends here, only because someone mentioned than all guns should be considered, because nobody is the same, and what's good for one guy, is terrible for another.

The real surprise that landed in my lap from a trade is the Sig 938. I have an old injury to my right hand that makes handling the double stack 9's difficult, and as an aside, the single stacks carry very light and easy for me.

After adding the optional 7 round magazine, I now have the 7 + 1 capacity that gives me some level of comfort, and it has the natural handling of a (small) 1911 style pistol. The longer mag also adds enough to grip like a standard compact gun. I know it may not be exactly what you had in mind, but mine makes a great edc in a small OWB scabbard type holster.

Of the ones listed by the OP, MY choice would be the Glock 21. That's a hell of an admission from a shooter whose genome probably has "1911A1" stenciled in it somewhere.

Your t-shirt analogy is a nonsequitar as it relates to my recommending the G19 as the *perfect* size for a 9mm chambering. Maybe you flunked Logical Reasoning 101.

Further, I never said "as small as mechanically possible" should be a "design" goal. Obviously, there are smaller 9mm pistols on the market than the G19.

I recommended the G19 because it possesses the best combination of attributes for ease-of-portability, concealability, and magazine capacity, while still being a very accurate, reliable, and durable pistol.

As stated, on the Sig platform (if the user wants something other than a Glock), the P228 possesses similar attributes.

The Beretta/Taurus 92s and Sig 226s, while fine pistols, all constitute larger/weightier/less-efficient platforms than are needed for the 9mm-chambering.

My vote from the list is the M&P, I love mine. Either caliber, they just seem to fit the hand.

Since CZ, and clones were mentioned, I'll suggest one look at the Sarsilmaz K2-45. 14+1 rds of .45acp in an all metal beyond ergonomic package. I think it fits the hand better, and due to being all metal, is better balanced then the FNX, which I also owned..The K2-45 might be a tad higher then $500, it's been awhile since I bought mine.

Right, all those other ones have a mix of characteristics rendering them larger than needed....to you. Less efficient...to you.

Some some fit your needs, some don't.

Some fit, some don't.

Like a garment for the torso, made with many unique differences, techniques, and makes, so there's something that hits the sweet spot for all.

The perfect T-shirt.
