9mm Revolvers

I use to have a 940. It was a very nice little gun, but kind of heavy. I went to a 442 because of the weight. The moon clips were kind of a PITA to unload and some oddball and foreign 9mm brass would not work in them, but overall it was a good gun. If they made one with an alloy frame I would buy it. I have a 940, and like it a ton. I agree it's a little on the heavy side for pocket carry (still do-able), but I like having the weight on the range - the little j-frame gave me a new respect for the 9x19.

I have one of the Brownell screwdriver-shaped demooner tools, and it makes using the moon clips a good deal more pleasant. I generally load up 50 rounds, fire them, and then deal with reloading the clips.

I've noticed that the 940 doesn't like Blazer ammo - tends to somehow ooze backwards and make turning the cylinder difficult with the DAO pull. I've read where certain +P and +P+ ammo will do the same thing, so I've never messed with it. Never had any problems with Winchester white box or other generic ammo, though.

I think the 9x19 is about the best and most efficient round to use in a snub revolver. I, too, would buy an alloy- or Ti-frame 9x19 j-frame, but - as I posted earlier - I don't see S&W rushing forward with it. (Tho, acc. to something I read on the S&W forum, Wiley Clapp had an alloy one made up for himself.) I understand from threads similar to this one that Taurus doesn't respond to suggestions that it make one. I guess there's just not enough of us out here.
