9mm question?

You learn a lot cheaper by going to a range that rents guns and try as many as you think you'll like

Something I encouraged him to do. To the extent it's possible.

You have some years of shooting ahead, maybe a few decades, you can go through a few guns in that time.

I have an older Kahr K-9 Elite 98, all stainless, single stack 9mm. It is a real pleasure to shoot, but heavy.

If you want to carry the gun more - a Glock 43 or S&W Shield 9mm would be good choices. I can carry the Kahr just fine, but you notice the weight.

Kahr PM9 or CM9 would also be good choices.

Mass/weight tames recoil. Just depends how much weight you are willing to put up with. I recently bought a Ruger LCP II. Lighter is better sometimes.

I agree, this thread is going everywhere from singlestack mouse guns to doublestack combat cutdowns...
what does the op mean when he is after subcompact?
single stack?
doublestack?
under 4" barrel?
under 3" barrel?
desired capacity range?

FWIW. In a subcompact double stack I lime a Glock 26, to me it offers all the convenience of a short bbl and short grip, but shoots/recoils/handles just like the larger Glock 19.

I have fat hands and have had a lot of trouble holding on to the tiny little single stack 9mms. I recently tried a Glock 43 and was very surprised at how well it handled.

You might try a range near you where you can rent and try the Glock 26, Glock 43 and S&W M&P, one of them might be exactly what you are looking for.

I found, for ME, that I needed to add the Pearce XL extension over their regular one. That extra 1/4" over their regular one made all the difference for me in having a comfortable grip. I still like my new Gen 3 G-19 better though.

Actually, for a smaller gun, I like the Kahr - its slim grip fits MY hand nicely. I have not tried the new single stack Glock 9, but I bet if I did, I'd be buying one........

"I haven't even shot my new Remington R51 yet, but bet it would be top of the list for what you want. I know it's balance, and feel are great!"

So... you have not shot it yet but bet it would be at the top of the list...

Maybe that's a good "bet". But maybe it's just me but I'd wait until I had several hundred rounds, at a minimum, through a gun before I would even begin to think about recommending it.

And when thinking about the checkered past of the R51 I'd probably want several hundred more... :)

I had the opportunity yesterday to shoot a SIG, and Ruger. Personally I'll stick with my Glock 26 having larger hands it gives me more to hang onto

My S&W Shield shoots very well for its size.

I heard the Walther CCP shoots softly too, but don't have any personal experience with it.

I have both the Ruger SR9C and the Sig 938. Both are comfortable to shoot, minimal recoil shooting a 147 grain JHP. The sights on the Sig are great with the night sights. Can't go wrong with either sidearm.

Based on my opinion of the feel, and balance. Add to that the many real life reviews that say the recoil is noticeably less than other 9's of it's size. The same reviews reporting that they had absolutely no problems, and it is obvious to the reviewers that any problems with the previous generation has been addressed, and corrected.
With that, yes I would recomend the OP look at the Remi gton R51 especially considering the original request.
Out of all of the sub compact 9mm pistols on the market, which one is the most well balanced with the least amount of recoil?
