9mm not reclycling

Cycling is the term for a semi-auto gun firing, slide actuating, spent casing ejecting, reloading a new round into the chamber.
Recycling is to reuse an item rather than trashing it. We recycle cases into cartridges.
Next time we will discuss the menstral cycle and its lack of training wheels.

Current max from the online Alliant data for Blue Dot with 124gr SpeerGD @1.12" is 7.9gr...

2004 Alliant paper manual shows 125gr FMJ @1.15" with a max of 8.2gr Blue Dot...

Haven't used Blue Dot, but even 125gr lead has 6.0 as min load.....you are Way, low. Pull them. Or, use them as practice rounds for stoppage training....

My Hornady manual shows 5.5gr of BlueDot (actually 5.7gr) as exactly in the middle for 124gr loads in 9mm.

Was version Hornady manual are you using? That is way off base from every other source I have. (Speer, Lyman, Alliant)

Hornady 8th and 9th Editions shows a start charge of Blue Dot with 124 grain XTP's and RN at 4.8 grains giving 900 fps and a maximum load at 6.6 grains of Blue Dot for 1100 fps. Oal's 1.060 for the XTP and 1.150" for their RN. They tested with Win SP primers, Hornady brass, in a S&W mod 39 with a 4" barrel. Forget the Blue Dot and find an appropriate powder. This appears to be another example of Hornady's data not being realistic. Lots of their data is realistic and some not. Always work up though and compare all data sources.

Alliant says 5.5 is 1.6 grains under minimum for a 124 grain jacketedbullet. Probably not unsafe, but clearly not enough for the OP's pistol. Max is 7.9.
The OAL is irrelevant.

Okay, I ran a few of those 9mm rounds (5.5 gr of BlueDot with a 124gr FMJ in 9mm) through my Beretta 92FS 9mm and they all functioned and cycled 100% in this pistol. I'll shoot them in my Beretta instead of my HK.

Thanks for the help to all those who were helpful and not accusing, cynical and blaming. I'm surprised no one suggested trying another 9mm pistol.

I admit I was no help to you in this case.

But this IS a pretty helpful place. I don't really need to tell YOU this as you've been registered 'bout as long as I have even though your post count is lower.

And the moderators keep things civil. And we still manage to have some fun. And a Beretta AND an HK...two REALLY nice guns that I'll get around to buying when that lottery finally hits. Hope to here more from you. I've loaded .45 ACP for years and years but I'm just starting loading 9mm.

Glad it worked out for you, but reloaded ammo should work in all your guns, not just one. I would guess that the Beretta has a weaker/milder spring , that is why is cycles , so shoot them, but when you load another batch, up your charge so it functions in all your pistols.

I had the exact same problem with Blue Dot and 124 FMJs. I worked my load up by .2 grains until all 3 of my 9mm semi autos were 100% reliable. 6.2 grains is where that happened for me, so I settled on 6.3. A few hundred rounds later it's working perfectly.

Were you using the Hornady reloading guide? Blue Dot 124gr loads seem pretty light.

Yes I was using the Hornady manuals, both the 7th and 9th edition as I recall. Each had the exact same load data for 9mm so it was obvious there had been no new data worked up in between the editions.
