9mm GOOD FOR DEFENSE?PART 2

Now I suppose I'm gonna have to wade through a bunch of posts about baseballs, bowling balls and live goats. Is Airborne doing the testing again?

A few years ago I read in SOF about how a Lt in the Salvadoran Air Force took down three heavily armed terrs with his Beretta 92FS. Later I read about a guy that successfully defended his wife and himself with a Browning HiPower against four armed bandits . Three of the four attackers died on the spot and another died of his wounds ad he made his escape by car. Practice, practice and practice some more. If you do your part so will the humble 9mm.

So many pistols, so little money.

I dont have any difficulty finding 45ACP here in africa. Not a scientific observation but everyone I know personally who has been there with a 9mm now carries a different gun or different ammo but the guys with the 45s are still carrying the same gun.Just my thoughts and I wouldnt want to stand in front of either to be honest but I think I will still stick to my 45.

I just don't think a 9mm has enough stopping power to trust it to defend yourself comfortably. I read a story in "weapons for law enforcement and military" that a Patrol Officer in Florida(correct me if the state is wrong)shot a man wild on drugs 14 times to just put him on the ground. sorry, not me pal,not 9mm :(

A officer friend of mine once put a guy who took 6 44 magnums into the ambulance.

The guy was still chatting away happily.

Anecdotes - so what.

I depend on 9mm in the spring, summer and fall. Just because I can carry it in a smaller gun that is easier to conceal when wearing shorts, or no coat. .45 full size can be concealed in the winter under my bigger clothes. I hope I never have to use it for defense, but that is why I carry it. Corbon 115gr in +P! --plinker2--
