9mm Bolt Action?

Pssst: thread drift, but handloading is very fun and rewarding but the little Lee Loader tool kits pretty much suck all the joy out of it and productivity almost ceases to exist.

Well If I did buy a Destroyer, I'd probably shoot maybe 200 rounds a month out of it. I'd think the lee loader would be good enough for that. Frankly, I've got a lot of free time LOL!! :D

Basic conversions in the customers choice of barrel length are $750.00.

That's from the guy doing 9mm conversion on the M22 TCM rifles. So for the cost of the gun plus the work, plus shipping, you're looking at a $1000 setup... frankly, that is insane.

Indeed it is! I'd love a 9mm version from the factory so I wouldn't have to spend close to a G to get the gun converted!

I just shot Armscor this email:

Dear Armscor,

Good afternoon. I am contacting you regarding a product suggestion for your
company. I see that you offer a bolt action rifle in .22 TCM, and that is a
very interesting product. As much as I like .22 TCM, I would love to see
this same rifle chambered in 9x19mm. I would imagine that the only thing
you'd have to do is offer the same rifle but with a 9mm barrel.

I have spoken with a number of other shooters both in person and on various
internet firearms forums, and many express the desire for a centerfire bolt
action rifle in the economical 9mm cartridge. With the price of .22 LR
rimfire ammunition being what it is, many consider the 9mm to be a logical
alternative. I believe that if you offered this rifle chambered in 9mm, it
would sell. Offer it with a short 16.5" barrel and thread to accept a
suppressor, and it'd sell even better. But please... keep the wood stock,
it looks better than plastic!

In closing, I think this would be a great addition to your product line. I
can imagine very little R&D costs needed, as like I said, the basic rifle
would just need a 9mm barrel on your existing M22 action. This gun would be
a joy for plinking and small game hunting, shooters would love it. I'd buy
AT LEAST one myself. Please offer this as an option alongside your M22 TCM.
You will not regret it.

Thank you so much for your time, and have a great day!

If anyone of you guys (or gals) would want to see this as a factory option, email Armscor and let them know you want it!

How 'bout an M1 Carbine rechambered and barreled to .45 WinMag?

There's two kinds of people that handload, get in to it and stay in to it:

--the folks who need it for a means to an end, get annoyed with the repetitive and laborius nature of it but can still crank it out because it's necessary

--the folks who quickly find a genuine passion for it and realize that it becomes a hobby nearly as (or more) rewarding than shooting.

You oughta try it. It simply does NOT have to cost a fortune.

It's been done.
It reportedly shot fine with the WW factory load with 230 gr FMJ, but if you read between the lines a little, it had a very narrow working area between hot enough to function the action and hot enough to "energetically disassemble" the action.

If a single shot is enough fun, Ed Harris did a good deal of work with rook rifles built up or adapted for .32 and .38.

Kel-Tec Sub-2000......Off Topic

I know it's not a bolt gun, but my Kel-Tec Sub-2000 with a cheap Walmart red dot will tear up a C-Rations can at 100 yds. And it takes the same mags as my Glock! Put a 2X on it and I bet it will do 150 easy. Shooting crap ammo. Add some good +P and it'll get the job done. It folds in half to go in a bugout bag...... Get some 30 rd sticks and have a blast. If you had to, you could feed your family with it. At 25 yds we EASILY held 10 round groups to 1.5" without pausing between shots. Light recoil makes it a pleasure for women and kids too.

Ruger's 77/357 is a bolt action .357 mag that can generally fire .38 special.

That's pretty close, but a little expensive.

+1 to jeeperman I also have the kelt tec sub 2000 gen 2 and its a heckuva little 9mm carbine...very accurate at 50 yds and out to 100..goes bang every time with whatever you feed it.

Yeah, when that's available, it's pretty hard to justify going to a lot of trouble just to make something the same except "slightly less powerful" - .38 special is dirt cheap.
