9mm barrel break-in?

Breaking in the GUN to finish the manufacturer's work is unfortunately necessary in some of today's market.
(Remember those 1940s newsreels of GIs firing cases of ammo to break in real military 1911A1s? I don't either.)

Breaking in the BARREL like a target rifle seems not needed.

One of those things we are going to debate till the Crack of Doom. IMHO break in is like a new vehicle, or any other piece of equipment. I read once that a home washing machine could use a break in period, especially if it was mounted on a somewhat uneven surface. Regarding barrel break in on a rifle, IMHO it's more a matter of the action settling in the stock, perhaps some spots in the wood need some compression, or there are high spots, etc.

" I know the formula for rifles..."

What would that be? I have heard bout a dozen different "formulas."

All are worthless in my opinion. Even more so on a handgun.

On a hand gun for breaking I put one down range and if it goes bang its broke in. Then several hundred to be sure its reliable.
