9mm advice needed!

I am not a Glock fan (icky trigger), but I fired a CZ-75 or two recently and it was nice enough.

you want a Browning Hi Power...you want a Browning Hi Power...get a Browning Hi Power

Hmm? What was that...did anyone hear anything? ;)

GLOCK....

......handsdown. They have proven over and over that they are reliable, accurate, and super easy to maintain. There is a ton of aftermarket accessories and they are so pretty! You won't be disappointed.

I'd go for the glock. Actually, of a matter of fact, I was in the exact quandry about two years ago. CZ75 or a Glock. Both in .40S&W. I bought the Glock 22 mostly due to ergonomic issues. Both are excellent guns, and I suggest you get both (if/when $$$ allows). That's my battle plan.

Since it is the only handgun you will have for awhile go with the Glock. It is a lot tougher than the CZ and parts are aplenty. So you are sure that the gun can easily and quickly be fixed should it be broken. With one gun you can not afford for it to be sitting in a repair shop.

When budget permits you can get the CZ, it's a great gun.

GLOCK TOUGHER THAN CZ ?

Shame on you for spreading fertilizer; the CZ is the most battle-tested handgun in the world.

The choice is easy: buy the one now you can't buy later.

Advice from another persecuted state. Will you be able to resell the CZ in the future? In MA, a dealer can't sell a CZ anymore - but they can be sold privately to another individual owner, so there's no real urgency to a decision, just the need to buy privately, which in this internet age, isn't that difficult.

Will you carry it, or is it a house/range gun? The Glock is a lot lighter. Some people have recommended the CZ 85 Combat, which has better sights among other features, but does not have a firing pin block. Some people prefer an external safety for a house/range gun, which the CZ has - have you thought about what you are most comfortable with?

I own a CZ 85C and am impressed with a lot of Glock features. I think owners of one or the other are making hyperbolic claims. Glocks are common, reliable, and durable, but the trigger action is an acquired taste and their accuracy doesn't seem to match SIG and Walther, maybe even CZ. CZ's are an excellent value, but their internal fit and finish is not up to most collector guns. The part about the CZ being most battle tested is, ahh, optimistic - many, many more military and police units field Berettas or SIGs, currently, but that is largely a function of their ability to support the logistic requirements of military use - the CZ 75B is a classic, reliable, durable, accurate, and well-supported in the U.S..

Personally, I would also look at the made-in-Maryland Beretta 92, and Walther P99 and then spend some time shooting them - that's what it's all about! If you are only going to buy one, buy what you are most comfortable shooting, and leave the legislative lottery choices to people that want to spend more. I like my CZ 85 Combat, but much prefer the sights on my SIG, so it's all about preference. The CZ will leave the most money in your pocket, but the others are all popular and have more established resale prices if you want to sell it.

I do believe WS2 had it right with he said about it's "battle" test. The CZ is in use by more militaries and national police and security agencies than other manufacturers. Heck if it means anything, I read that the Russian Spetsnaz has switched to the CZ75. Personally I don't make something like that my first determining factor, still boils down to how it feels. Carried the Beretta as an USAF cop, didn't care for it one bit. Also owned a Taurus PT92 and shot my brothers Beretta quite a bit, just doesn't feel right. First time I had that CZ in hand, I was hooked. Plus I believe the CZ to be a stronger gun than the Beretta.

Go with the Glock 17...Its durable...reliable...very easy to assemble & disassemble...same trigger all the time...tons of aftermarket accessories plus their customer service is awesome...The list is never ending...:)

I feel like a broken record, but I can't stop recommending the BHP and CZ-75. They are two excellent, reliable, accurate and classy pistols. I can't define classy, but they have it in spades. I can't say that for some other more "modern" pistols.

CZ75B, no question. Glocks are wonderful tools that I find impossible to get excited about. Reliable, innovative, and boring. CZ's have "history", "lines", and "soul!" Besides you won't be able to get them anymore in your state and mine (Mass). I was in the same situation and picked up a CZ75B before dealers can't sell them anymore. They're collectible for different reasons thatn "fit and finish." Hard to explain but they are in their own category somehow and it is one gun that I will always have.
