870 feed probs

hey

Hey Bob, is that you in the video???

I really don't want to bend the carrier lips, but its been discussed.

I am going to slightly bend the flex tab outboard, VERY little. It is causing a slight hitch as the shell goes up the carrier, the leading edge of the brass, esp high brass, hangs up slightly.

Thanks for all info.

new carrier dog spring

Well, after considerable hassle, (Rem sent the parts to the wrong address) and then more hassle (when they came in to our division, they went to the wrong office) , I finally received some new "carrier dog springs" supposedly the new HD model that has become standard.

Our 870 armorer pulled the dog spring from the troublesome 870 (not a 'Police" model) and comparing the new spring, to the old spring, shows a slightly longer length (say 1/8" maybe) and maybe a bit thicker gauge.

There is no doubt the gun feeds better. The movement of the carrier is significantly more positive. No live fire yet, but considerable use of dummy rounds yields no "short lifts" and increased reliability.

We will likely do this to all the "non police" guns in our inventory.

Bammer-ranger... NO LIVE FIRE YET??? Man, If I had to rely on an "Issue" weapon, my butt would have stopped at wally world for a box or 2 of double-naught buck 'em up shot!!! I would then work that sum-buck til she felt like an ol' plow mule put up hot and sweaty on an august afternoon! If it won't work 100% up to and including "too dang hot"... I wouldn't use it for runnin' stray dogs off my place, let alone LIFE SAFETY situations! RUN HER HOT AND HARD AND KNOW YOU HAVE A 100% DUTY CYCLE WEAPON!!!

My best of regards and thoughts are with you, Bud!
