8 gauge shotshell pics!

I think that Remington still makes 8 gauge ammo (slugs only) and special guns for use in foundries for knocking slag out of the melting furnaces

My father in law gave me one said it was used to bust stuff up at the papermill where he worked.

Both Remington and Winchester produce 8 ga industrial loads for various uses,these loads come in lead or zink slugs,also buckshot loads and no 2 fine shot.i have a number of these also various foreign loads. these shells are loaded to very high pressure and would destroy a sporting 8 ga gun.
 
I was told that 8ga was used sometimes to knock down overhangs and such in outdoor mining operations. The gun was described as looking like a miniature Howitzer.

Ive seen pictures of the indostrial guns, one type is mounted on a trypod,neither type look like a sporting type gun. Remington also made electric primed shells used to fire into the ground to give off readings for exploring,not shure exactly what this was all about.

The 8 guage that we use in the power plant is does not compare to a sporting shotgun. It is a single shot has no stock and weighs about 20 pounds. It is hung from above while it is shot. We use it to clean clinkers out of the boilers (I wish they let the new guys use it. I am still waiting for the day.) From what I gather it uses a light load I am not sure about shot size. It is a very interesting shotgun. I am still trying to convince management that it would work wonders for pigeon control.

I'm brand new to this forum. I was trying to find an 8 ga. brass shotshell
for sell to add to my collection and ran across your forum. I have a couple 8guage in my collection, one Remington, the other is an Eley. Both are still being made. I'm told that some tiger hunters used the 8 guage Eley to shoot tigers in the heavy grass areas. I found the information on the boat very interesting. In Md. they were called "sneak" boats. The not so sporting people would skull out to where the geese were throw back a tarp and open up with their 4,6 and 8 ga. cannons. If anyone knows where I might find a 8 gauage brass shell (inert) let me know.

I have two family members who swear by the 10g for geese.

I partook of the shooting experience. It was less than pleasant, but doable.

I can't imagine the joys of the 8g.

punt guns

I'm not sure about slugs in the punt guns, however I have
read where some Chesapeake sneak boats used nuts, bolts
and other hardware in the larger punt guns. I can't imagine
what the geese must have looked like after they were shot.
Probably already defeathered, cleaned, cut and ready for packaging.
