7.62x39 AR Upper

Del-Ton

I'm looking at Del-ton. $440 flat top -$460 carrier handle.

However I found this on their website.

Note: Due to this item being a conversion part for the AR platform, we recommend using commercial-grade ammunition. You will experience light primer strikes with military grade ammo, i.e. WOLF, Brown Bear.

Is this a problem with all 7.62x39 AR uppers?

Some report weak firing pin strike on 7.62x39 upper when on regular AR lower. Newer uppers may have overcomed that problem.

Model 1 offers a firing pin enhanced for 7.62x39 ARs (top, below). The collar thickness is reduced and the tip is extended to allow greater protrusion from the bolt face, producing a deeper primer strike.

I use these on two guns and they work great with the hard primered steel case ammo.

Misfires with steel case ammo can be fixed in about 5 minutes with a drill press and a file. The cheapest part is the firing pin. Take a few thousands off of the stop collar on the firing pin and your problem is solved. You don't have to have any special bolt, or grind the end off of your bolt, or put in different hammer springs etc. All you need is a couple thousandths of extra travel on your firing pin and life will be good.

I had a couple of weak primer strikes on my 7.62x39 upper. Took .010 off the back end of the bolt and now have good primer strikes. No failures to fire at all.

I bought one of the first complete rifles bushmaster shipped out. It didnt feed well at first but after a trip back to the factory where they did a bit of feed ramp work and replaced my mags with new ones its been a 100 percent reliable. It will shoot black box wolf hps into 1.5 at a 100 for 5 shots and handloads using vmax hornady into less then an inch. Its probably my favorite ar.

Bushmaster did some nice changes on the AK upper and we could not keep them in stock. Now with the merge status, we can't get uppers or parts kits.(their parts kits are pretty nice as well).
We are building our own 7.62's with Yankee barrels and found a new source for mags since C products is now out of business.
As mentioned above, the primers and ramp design were the issue with the 7.62 and the bugs seem to be worked out. On my site, we tested a 7.62x39 with a slide fire stock...it worked. He is shooting a chrome lined barrel with surplus ammo
