We are looking at net gains and losses from the first count.
When the first count was done, Bush led by aprox 1750 votes. This *includes* Bush winning Seminole county by those 15000 votes.
What the second count is indicating is that Gore has *gained* enough votes to reduce Bush's lead to only 229 votes.
Since Seminole county still hasn't reported its results for the second count, if Gore picks up enough votes to offset Bush's current 229 vote lead, game over.
It's interesting to note that Bush didn't lose that many votes in the recount, but rather Gore actually *gained* that many.
What I want to know is how did Gore consistently pick up so many votes?
Seems awefully convenient that he gets just what he needs just when he needs it...
