6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser...European vs American

i checked all 80 cases i have 6.5x55
40 norma lapua rims mic at .480 to .483
40 federal nosler rims mic at .469 to .471
all measurments were taken with a starrett digital mic not a vernier caliper and all were rounded to the nearest .001

The latest dimensions CIP are a compromise between Norwegian and Swedish
military rounds , are listed as 6.5x55SE . Those two groups finally got together after 100 years !

the new rem 700 sps in .260 has a 1-8 twist and mine shoots the heavy weights just fine and with the 24" barrel runs right with the 6.5cm and 6.5x55.

I hate to say it, but my Winchester brass is 0.471 at the base.... Fiocchi and Herters are 0.476.

I’ll be damned! I wonder if it will expand?

I wonder how Lapua measures??

How it will expand depends on your specific chamber. Have used the Win brass in Win Mod 70, and a CZ with excellent results. The base expands out noticeably, but the dies used do not resize it back down so it is a one time affair. Both those rifles are capable of sub moa with the win brass, hdy 129/140 gn sp's and rl 22.

Have used Rem factory loads in M96 with very good results, but don't remember ever reloading for it.
