6.5 Creedmoor vs. .260 Rem

Lots of good scopes out there for $500 that will get you out to 1000 and beyond. Don't forget good bases and rings. I'd suggest the Burris Signature Zee rings. They have never failed me and they don't require the lapping other rings need to achieve maximum usefulness. I have used many good scopes from a $99 Vortex Crossfire to Weaver, Bushnell, Leupold, Super Sniper. I have never had one of them fail me. They were all researched for an intended purpose and all have fulfilled expectations and beyond. In your price range I'd suggest the Vortex Vipers. Lot of scoope for the money. Something like a 6.5-20 ought to serve you well.

Zak Smith wrote the definitive article:

I chose the 260, based on this article and have been very satisfied. Zak's site is excellent.

Zaks site has some great info on it thats for sure and he has owned and shot the 6.5x47, 6.5Creedmore and the 260rem at 1000yards as well as reloaded and I think he favours the 260 as well.

I got a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 in FFP for shooting @ 1000yards and for the money it is a goer (very pleased with it).

Edit: Not only has it got the Zero Stop, once you find the load you want to use you can get the Custom Turrets.

So you guys would advise to go with the .260 for deer hunting? I have been thinking about buying a medium round for deer, but in a stainless lefty rifle. It appears neither the 6.5 Creedmoor or .260 is selling like hotcakes like say a 270 or 30.06. I think like myself, people just are afraid to try a cartridge that has not caught on yet. I would suppose no factory builds a stainless lefty in either of those rounds other than maybe Tikka?

Hi Guys! I ordered my scope. I went with the Nikon Monarch 8-32x50ED SF with BDC. I got it for a bit over $500. I realize it might not be the best scope out there but I think it's a good scope for where I'm at and it likely will NOT be the last scope that I buy!:D Gun and scope both arrive tomorrow... Hopefully the weather holds and I can shoot over the weekend!

Thanks again for all the information and wisdom you shared and for being nice about it!!;)

I don't think Beretta bring the 260 Tikka into the USA (but I heard you can order them in and that can take up to 3 months). If you want a 260 in left-hand try a Sako and Savage (may have to come from Savages "Custom Shop").
