So I finally got a chance to go out and shoot my 6.5 Creedmoor build... And I will say the cartridge lives up to all the hype.. Its easy on the shoulder, not terribly loud and the 6.5 bullets do defy the wind as their high coefficients would suggest... No pics of the groups as I forgot the camera, but none of them were above 3/4" @ 100 yards even with the cross wind... On a day with the shooter doing better job and less wind, this thing will do ragged holes at 100 yards..

Anyone on the fence about this cartridge, have no fear it lives up the hype... If you don't like hornady brass, this round can be easy made from the common 22-250 brass if needed...
 
Don't you just love the 6.5?

Very nice rifle. I was considering the Creedmoor against the 260, but couldn't justify it. Got a Savage 16 WWLH in 260 to go with my Interarms/Shaw 6.5-06 and it has been amazing.

Nosler will be rolling out brass this spring as well as ammunition for the 6.5 Creedmoor.

I recently built a 6.5 CM also. On my second range day with it shooting test loads,I found a fantastic load using Berger 140gr Hunting VLD's. The group measured .122" center-center at 100 yards.

I have one, but its a Savage lightweight hunter. I like the round fine. I will like it even better when Nosler finally gets their brass out.

Although harder to find at times, even better and requires far less necking up of the brass is to use .250 SAVAGE brass...

I have a savage lightweight in Creedmoor. After bedding and over 100 rounds of load development, it will consistently print 3/8" @ 100 3 shot groups; so long as I give it 7 minutes between shots. Attests to the superb accuracy of the Creedmoor and the extreme limitations of my particular rifle. Three shot rapid fire group are 1 1/4" diagonal line.
 
I just bought a lightweight hunter but haven't shot it yet. I picked up Hornady dies and 100 Hornady brass. Anybody work up any good loads yet? Also I have some once fored 250 savage cases; so what do I have to do to make them into 6.5 creedmores? Do I need a forming die or is my standard set all I need? Thanks in advance
 
My pet load is 140 Nosler ballistic tip with Fed large rifle bench rest primer. Powder charge is 41.5 IMR 4350. I see absolutely no pressure signs on this load, but it is above max for what Hodgdon lists for a 140 A-max. It is just under max for what they list for a 142 Match king. So, work up to it.

That won't happen for some time :(.... Need to find the pet load for this rifle...

And....

I need to send the scope back to the Leupold custom shop... The scope & reticle was set up by the Leupold custom shop for a 40 grain .223 Remington @ 3400 FPS... I ended up with the scope because, the original owner flaked on paying and picking it up from my local gunshop... Scope is new but they couldn't sell it because of the custom configuration.. It will require a trip back to Leupold and me to spend some money, but its hard to complain about acquiring a scope for $600, that Leupold says would cost $1400 to build...

The hold over points and markings on the elevation dial are off because of the load it was setup for.. I can do the math, but with it properly configured it will be much easier to live with at longer distances...
 
Assuming you're talking about the turrets only, and not a custom reticle...
Save yourself some dough.
Develop your load, chrono and field verify the data, then have Kenton engrave new turrets for you.

Gotta be cheaper than the Leupold custom shop, and a lot faster.

Have you checked with Premier Rectical for prices and what you want. They were the top dog for custom recticals.

Just looked at .30 T/C cases...

The 6.5 Creedmore brass could also easily be made from the .30 T/C cases.
