Barrett 82-A1, yep, thats the one I want! But I couldn't even sell both my cars for $6,700! Any one wanna trade and old suburban and camaro for a Barrett 82-A1? Please, I'll even throw in an air freshener :)

LAR makes (or made) the Grizzly monster mutant 1911 type auto in .50AE. They also make (Or made) a funky single shot long range rifle in .50BMG called the BigBoar. I`ve seen adds for them in GunList. Marcus

Dear Valued Customer,

For many years, L.A.R. Manufacturing, Inc. has tried to provide top quality, hand lapped and accurized pistols at a reasonable cost. The cost to produce these pistols has continued to rise over the years. It has now reached a point, that the market can no longer bear the cost of producing these firearms. For this reason, we have reluctantly decided to discontinue production of the Grizzly Mark I, and Mark V pistols as of January 1, 1999. This discontinuance will not affect the production of the Grizzly Big Boar Rifle in any way. All service, repair and replacement parts will be provided by Sprague's of Yuma Az until stock is depleted. Their Phone Number is 520-726-0022

Sincerely

L.A.R. Manufacturing, Inc.

LAR did what?! Bloody hell.
One of my brothers has a LAR Grizzly in .45 Winchester Magnum that I've been trying to talk him out of for about 4 years. I kept putting off getting a NIB one, but now I'm going to have to hit the gunshows.

Man, I wish they hadn't stopped making those pistols.

I held a Desert Eagle 44 AutoMag at my local FFL. The frame size is similar to the 50AE. Now, I don't have super small hands or anything but I would have no chance of firing that thing one handed. It is HUGE!

A friend of mine has a .44DE I`ve shot quite a bit and you`re right,it is challenging to shoot one handed. I have large hands and I still have to grip it off center to reach the trigger. During one handed "rapid" fire strings it had this strange tendency to rotate to the left (oops I mean the right) in my grip. It was predictable and I compensated for it but I was unable to get off more than 3 semi-fast shots in a row without adjusting my grip. His has the original plastic grips on it the newer Hogue equiped DEs are probably easier to handle. :) Marcus

Unfortunately, the newer DE's made in Israel have plastic grips once again- Hogue grips are available at extra cost. Kind of ridiculous that they went back to plastic grips on a $1k pistol- well guess they used some of the money to go towards the nice plastic case they now come in (vs. the cardboard box that they came in originally).

The Hogue grips make a world of difference on the DE- when compared to the crappy plastic ones supplied- I would almost consider it a "must" have item.

The great thing about DE pistols is the fact that they are modular, you chose the caliber depending upon how stressed out you are that day.
I would love to have a kit with the 10" barrel. With the big pipe fitted the pistol puts me in mind of a tank. They have a similar aesthetical appeal to me.
