No where near that bad, the 45/70 has been good for over a 100 years guess there is obviously no reason to change now. Christ I could almost get a British double for those prices.

460 S&W is a 60k psi round. I'm sure it takes a pretty robust lever action to stand up to it. The thought of owning one is cool, but it sure isn't cheap.
 
I asked about this a while back and at that time I believe there was someone making a Marlin 1895 conversion also. If memory serves it was about $700 if you provided the rifle. Still not cheap and I couldn't make myself comfortable with feeding 460 SW in a design meant for 45-70, even if modified.

An Encore is the best option for hunting. Obviously not a levergun though.
