.45ACP ammo suggestions

I prefer 230 grain ball for my 45ACP. I try to buy WInchester Winclean, but it isn't the cheapest out there. It is worth trying though.

As you can see, everyone has different opinions but also different guns. I personally own a Sig P220 .45 ACP. Winchester, Fiocchi, and Federal are all great ammos for target shooting. The Blazer CCI is cheap stuff and I personally am biased of it by what I've heard and know. On the other hand, I have used it and had excellent results. I normally use Fiocchi or Winchester. The gun shops recommend them and I like them. The Fiocchi for some reason has a bit more kick to it and burns hotter but is my preferred target ammo. Federal and Winchester is a bit smoother and does not burn as hot so I like them also. The Blazer CCI supposedly is the cheapest and supposedly causes jams etc, but burns very clean and is smooth according to the shops and my personal experience. But again, I am just kinda biased if not like to get the best I can. And though I had good results with the CCI, I still prefer Fiocchi or Winchester over the CCI.

Here's my funny story one day. I go to a range regularly and use Fiocchi regularly. Before going to the range, I stop by a local LEO gun shop to get ammo cause it is cheaper than the range. But they wer'e out of all .45 ammo except for Federal and CCI. He said that CCI is pretty good despite what people say. So I thought I'd try it out. I walked in and everybody see's my Sig case and my 5 boxes of CCI ammo. The owner says hi to me and says, "you buy the best handgun you can buy and the ****tiest ammo you can get".:D We both laugh our ass off. I said hey they wer'e out and I wanna try this out. And it is only $9 for 50 rounds so why not. So I shoot all 250 rounds and not one jam. And I liked how smooth it was. So it worked great for me but I still don't know if I would use it again over Fiocchi or Winchester. But I sure wouldn't be as hesitant next time to use it again. It is better to try all and learn from experience and see what you think after personally experiencing it. Can't knock it till you try it!

CCI Blazer does run a bit long in OAL. I have measured this with a caliper and know this to be true. Their overall length is not consistent either.

In the majority of guns, this is not an issue. I have seen several finicky 1911s that didnt like it, but did fine with everything else.

I am not saying its junk. I have never had one fail to fire. It just isnt as consistent as other ammo.
