.45 ammo prices

Also you may want to consider reloading if getting the most bangs for your buck out of .45 acp are concearned. My cost for ammo is a bit under $50 per thousand using my home cast LSWC, and range pick up brass.

Say what?

A guy at the gun shop said I should stay away from the Winchester white box ammo. Is this true?

I shoot this out of my 1911 consistently. No problems, ever. Don't have any idea why someone would say this.

For your CCW you may think about loading some thing else.

At $16 a box I'd be buying all I could carry.

$16 for a 50 count of .45 is pretty good.

I picked up two 50 boxes the other day at 20.99 each and even that made me feel good. Can't wait to close on my house. Hello reloading press!

I've used a lot of the same Federal FMJ 230 from Walmart, never had an issue. Nor have I had issues with Magtech, Remington UMC, Winchester White Box, etc. The only ammo I've ever really had issues with was HSM. So I'd say yes, go with it.

Far as Winchester White Box goes, I've heard the same thing. I heard a gun store employee say "oh that's basically the stuff Winchester sweeps off the floor at the days end." I think they just don't want to carry something that's priced so low, less profit for them. Between about 5000 rounds of WWB 45 and 9MM, no issues.
