45 ACP Revolvers

tHE REASON SO MANY TARGET SHOOTERS DON'T WANT TO USE THE CLIPS

is that they are a real bear to load and unload. The clips I mean. For selfdefence its worth it. Just for some informal plinking? Not hardly worth the pain. JMHO:)

As an owner of a S&W 625, I can say it is one of the most accurate handguns that I have ever fired, right outta the box.
It is also very fast loading with the full moon clips.
Taurus, I think, is slimming down the weapon(with only 5 rounds) to trim it enough for consideration for conceal carry.
If this Taurus is as accurate as my Smith these weapons will go over very big. I was hopeing they would make it in a 2 inch.
when does Taurus say they will be out?

Do any of you think Taurus is off-base with the decision to go with the 5-shot format instead of 6?

Not a bit. The 45 ACP is a defensive round so Taurus picking a medium frame 5 shot makes sense, it's a gun designed for defensive use. The large frame Taurus is HUGE, substantially larger and heaver than the N frame Smith. Few people would ever carry it for defense even with a 4" barrel so chambering it for the 45 ACP doesn't really make sense.

I was looking at the competition side such as idpa, ppc, etc.
The problem with the snub for concealed carry is the full moon clip reloads subject to bending and warping compared to a speedloader. A cure would be to go with auto-rim handloads and an HKS 25m..
A speedloader pouch would be just something else to keep concealed to protect the full moons.

GOOD QUALITY moonclips aren't that fragile. I have 40 of them and I have never bent one. There is no faster way to load a revolver than with moonclips. Speed loaders don't come close.

Some people in their infinite wisdom, would bore out the step in a 45acp cylinder and claim is was "Dual Use". The ones I've seen like that will usually have a 1911 with the grip safety strapped right near by. They've been the "just what you'd expect" home hatchet job.

M625PC 5 inch, sold thru Camfour

These guns are super shooters with or without the clips but for accuracy work off a bag I get 30% or so better accuracy with the clips.
