.45 ACP revolver

I have had a 625 with a 5" barrel for years. Back when I was still shooting PPC, that was my competition revolver. I put a spring kit in it and took the edge off the cylinders to make it faster to reload and that was it. It was almost completely stock and shot lights out. Here is a target I shot with it and that is pretty typical accuracy. I have never seen one that would not shoot. YMMV

If the OP is looking for a revolver that shoots largish caliber ammo without as much recoil as a 44 magnum...

I have various revolvers chambered for 44 special, 44 colt, and 45acp. With run of the mill store-bought ammo, their recoil all feels about the same to me. I am not detail oriented, but am guessing that with "plinking" types of ammo, they all shoot about the same sized bullet at about the same velocity.

That being said, of the three, it is easiest to find a modestly-sized double-action revolver in 44 special. I have two that are K frame sized and one that is a bit smaller.
