Just to echo some thoughts already shared, I have a couple Burris scopes, and a couple Leupold scopes. I would say the Burris optics definitely provide better dollar-for-dollar optics (the view through my $150 Fullfield II is every bit as good at the view through my $300 VX-II). Both companies have "fovever" warranties.
However, the Leupolds have the advantage of being trimmer (less weight and sleeker looking) and having longer and less picky eye relief. The view will "black out" on my Burris scopes more easily if my eye isn't at the correct distance. Not saying it happens a lot, just more often than it does with the Leupolds. If I only shot from a rest, it wouldn't make any difference to me, but the scopes are on field guns, and no two shots are exactly alike.
