I have personally seen a 138# field dressed boar take a high shot from a .45-70 Contender that split his spine behind the front shoulders; then take 5 more rounds from a Marlin 1894 in .44 Mag with factory Federal 240gr hollow points, and still drag itself with only it's front paws another 125 yards...
All five .44 mag bullets were recovered in the chest on the off side either in the chest, or in between ribs...
Perfect mushrooms...Could not ask 'more' from a bullet, huh?
I now only load .44 bullets that will exit...
I'll revisit this, and add a pic of 3 of the bullets...I left two at my Father's camp, which has since been sold...I'll also weigh them, which I have never done...
My only point being that, 'penetration' is far more important to me, than 'expansion'...
