Both are very fine pistols. I think, in this case, barrel length is immaterial.
I own and have shot my .44 mag. Redhawk many thousands of times. If you plan to get the DA, do practice, practice, practice shooting it in DA. If you are not practiced, speed in follow up shots means nothing if you pull off target. It is a matter of personal choice.
