44 mag contender

Why in the world would you want a 2 1/2" barrel Contender????

2-1/2" is a bit short. Would be fun for fireballs. But the stumpy barrels are kind of interesting.

The 4" one is probably as short as I would go. Shown on the bottom with a 5" and 10" for comparison.

As for why to cut them so short...

Quite a bit of suppression happens with supersonic bullets.

I've fired quite a bit of suppressed 223 without hearing protection. It truly isn't needed and I'm a big supporter of hearing protection.

There is a bit of a supersonic crack but that's it.

My friend with the suppressor bought a 223 barrel for his Contender and threaded it for an A2 flash hider. He drops the can on it and thins the varmints while hunting. The report is soft enough that it doesn't seem to scare off the deer.
