44 mag, 454 casull, or?

SRH Ruger in 454.7.5 barrel. then keep a couple of boxes of colt 45's for fun.
the 454 can be a little snappy with full power loads thats for sure.;)

So unless folks have physical impairments such as yours, it's difficult for me to sympathize with those who complain about a few ounces on their hip.

I have the same attitude about those who complain about recoil from a lite weight revolver. I've shot the 460 both in the X frame and on an Encore platform. From the X frame the recoil is certainly noticed but not as sharp as the 454 from a more normal frame. From the Encore the recoil is, shall we say, enlightening. With the Xframe you've got about the same weight as a good XP or Striker build and not nearly the range. Honestly I can't think of many things I do that would need more killing than a 44mag but if I were building a revovler today I would probably go the 480/475 route. Just to be different more than anything else.

I concur with all the 45 Colt recommendations. My Ruger Vaquero in 45 Colt has become my favorite shooter. I can feed it anything from mild cowboy loads to really hot hand loads. I always wanted a .44 Mag when I was younger but for my uses I believe my 45 Colt will do everything a 44 Mag will do, although I'll probably end up with a 44 Mag sooner or later :D
