Let me be clear on this
I don't want to put myself in the position of criticizing those who look at the bottm line price without regard to how the various parts of the cost break down. If I were to adopt that point of view, I might well be waiting for this pistol in the mail right now. I would very likely forget the cost for shipping the first time I opened the package.
As regards the trip to the post office, the letter carrier will pick up flat rate boxes without charge. You can also order the boxes from the post office and have them delivered. The Post Office has really made flat rate priority shipping painless and relatively inexpensive.
Ther is another aspect of online auctions which I have not yet been able to explain.
I had a bid on a barrel and cylinder from Old Western Scrounger. The high bid was 49.00 and my bid was 55.55. It was mine at 49.00. But then at the last second, the cost went up to 55.55 and there appears to have been no other bidder. I am thinking that there is software that OWS is using which finds a way to sense the maximum bid and then increase the price on the item to that amount. If I were to learn that this is true, I would stop dealing with him.
From now on, since I don't know for sure, I will bid the required amount to get to be high bidder and not add the cushion. To this point I have been entering the bid that I am willing to pay and just figuring that if I win the bid or lose the bid that it is a matter of fate.
