.38spl and a 1 7/8" barrel--crazy?

The 642(442 blued) is a good gun and the trigger pull is not excessive. Used with a fine pocket holster, you'll never leave it home.

I have a M-38 .38 Body guard, 1 7/8th barrel. Its a fine little 5 shot shrouded hammer, that you can still shoot single action. It fits a small nitch for CCW, for me, shorts Tee shirt and a inside the waist band holster and short trips to the supermarket and such.
I practice with 38 sp, but carry +P. Wonderful little gun.

I own a 637 and like it. I own a 442(blued) 662, and like it. The pulls aren't like a fine single action, but then it ain't that bad either. Give me 7-10 yards, and no problem with either. These are guns you can carry with comfort, and they make a dandy backup. Added: I don't feel under armed with either, when warmer weather makes it tough to hide the bigger boys. Besides, that's what TWO pocket pants are for!

The 2" bbl on the J-frame snub is nominal, just like a 2x4 ain't really 2x4. BTW, the 357 Magnum J-frames are 2.125" so they can install a longer ejector rod to eject the longer 357 cases.

I recently picked up a 642 from CDNN and I really like it. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but I have a box of +P hydrashocks waiting to fill it.

The 642 is what I carry off duty, and as a backup..

Works great for me with Winchester 158's +P's..and I find it "very" accurate..

I practice with 148 wadcutters, but carry the 158's LSWCHP's +P's...

I had the action tuned, by a good S&W gunsmith, and it's is as smooth as butter.

I had an Uncle Mike's nylon ankle holster modified, with more velcro and the retention strap relocated, and I forget I am wearing it...I mean it, I really do forget sometimes, because I am so used to it and it is so light..

Nothing else has been able to fill the bill as an "always" gun for me, and I've tried the mini-glocks, .380's etc...

I can carry it on the ankle in long pants, iwb with shorts, pocket carry, or even in an inconspicuous sports fanny pack..

In the December 2002 issue of Handguns magazine the tested several different brands and grains of .38 special ammo for use in snubbies. All test were done at DVC LABS in Lexington,SC. using 10% ordnance gelatin. Each bullet was tested
Dang..I'm glad someone remembers that..its my only claim to fame. They actualy reprinted that artical in the 04 annual. Just so you guys know the gun I actualy used for that testing was a S&W 360PD scandium with a 1 7/8 in barrel.
