38 vs 357 in SP-101

Bullrock's post makes me want to print tha page and circle the diffrences between the 2 pics.

Can you post which is which model (and generation) for us?

Sorry, with all the talent and experience on TFL, I keep forgetting that everything isn't obvious.;)

The first pic is a SW Model 686-6, 2 1/2" barrel, with smooth Eagle Heritage Woods.

The second pic is a SW Model 66-2, 2 1/2" barrel, also with smooth Eagle Heritage Woods:D :D

Bullrock - those pistols are too big (IMHO) for my intended purpose  I didn't buy the SP for range work, but for carry in certain instances. I would like a .357 in a larger-framed pistol like a Python, 586/686, Highway Patrolman, or GP100 for the range - but with a barrel longer than 2.5" :D

There can't be enough excuses for more guns, can there??

I'm happy with the SP for certain carry instances. .38 +P will do nicely.

One is a 'K' frame, the other is a 'L' frame. They are both snubbies. I find the larger wood grips gives both guns better balance.

I carry my M66 'K' every day now that the weather has changed. It is very easy to conceal with a pancake sliding belt holster. I don't find a problem with the weight, but then I've been a tough old fart for the past 15 years...

Always go with what is good for you! ;)
