.38 ammo question

Natchez is a distributor and doesn't sell in this area (SE) to avoid competing with their retail partners.

Cleaning tends to lead to more bbl damge than shooting modern ammo, and you are far, far more likely to harm a bbl cleaning the lead out of it than you are from shooting jacketed ammo. Re practice ammo, I shoot a LOT of Ga Arms stuff, and find that their non-jacketed 38/.357 ammo leads the bbl too much for my taste, even in a 38 snubby. The plated 158 gr loads are good in both .38 and .357 mag.

THANKS ALL!

I purchased some 158 gr Blazer JHP. I'll use those for practice, and load my silvertips for personal defense.

:)

Another reason for "match" the .38 loads to the .357 would be point of impact.
I have a 65-1, 4". Shooting .38, groups were low by 6 inches, and slightly left. When I tried using full house .357 loads, the point of impact came back to dead center. That's using the same sight picture, center hold.
Since this is a fixed sight gun, matching the point of impact would be somewhat important. It's fustrating to have to remember your "kentucky windage" for each different load.
I will just stick with the one with dead center impact and shoot it a little less. If it's a self defense gun, practice with what you will use!
Mine is a nice shooting gun with an incredible trigger.

I used to have a 586, similar 4" but L frame. I shot every kind of .38 and .357 through it. But it had adjustable sights. I used it my bullseye competition for a while. Don't know why I ever let it go.

4" smith revolver in .357 is probably one of the most versatile guns ever designed! If it ever came down to choosing only one gun, that one would be in the running. But I still like my Glock more.
