Hi there. I got this 357 from a guy at work. He wanted to hand it in at the cop station for destruction, so i asked him to sign at the bottom and now its mine.
Its fired 24 rounds since new and never been re-blued. And still looks like new.

Any comments on the Security Six? I dont know the firearm that well, but when its handed to you for this 0 price......i never say no.

( Im having trouble attaching the pic)

I found a stainless SS a year or so ago and it is just a marvelous gun - built like the brick house Ruger's are known for and it just works.

Congrats.

I have a Speed Six with a 2 3/4 barrel. A Security Six with 2 3/4 barrel as well. I also have another Speed Six in layaway. I like em I guess you would say. :)

Make sure that you like the trigger on the Security Six. I was playing with my friend's Security Six the other day, and the trigger seemed too stiff and gritty. This is too bad, because I liked the gun, until I played with the action.

I got mine from an indoor range that was closing. The Security Six is awesome. Have had it now for almost 10 years and it is one of my favorites.

Congrats on a nice find. The Security Six is a classic that has stood the test of time.

I use photobucket.com to post pics, it's free. Upload your pictures, then "copy a direct link" from photo bucket to the "insert image" button in your post.

The Security Six is the best double action revolver Ruger ever built. Too bad Ruger made a mistake and discontinued them. I have a Ruger Police Service Six 4 inch that I have had the longest of any of my revolvers. There tough as nails, the trigger gets better with use. Mine did. Since you got it free I am jealous. I would love to get a Security/Service Six free!

Here's my story and I'm sticking to it.

When I got interested in guns in the late '70s, the .357 revolver was king. This was before the wundernines. I wanted a Colt Python but (I thought) I could not afford one. I looked at everything else on the market. This was also when there were concerns about the Smith K frames holding up to .357s over the long term. I looked at the N frame Smiths but they seemed way too bulky for me.

My first centerfire revolver was a six inch stainless Ruger Security Six. I added a Trapper spring kit and commenced to shoot the doghair out of it. The frame is about the size of a K frame Smith with a larger cylinder. The more I shot it the better it got. I still have it.

There are more exotic revolvers but you can't go wrong with the Ruger.

Had a Security Six SS back in 1980 sold it to my boss wish now I hadn't sold it one of the best shooting pistols I ever had. If the trigger seems stiff the soot the day lights out of it and dry fire it. You won't hurt the pistol but the trigger will get better. Congrats on your new pistol

I just got a Ruger Security Six from a friend of mine his brother in law passed away and was part of the Estate sale paid $200 for it and came with a Raven Arms P-25. Brought it home yesterday going to shoot it tomorrow.

I owned a SS model and it was the best shooting 357 I ever had, including M19,66,27, and 28. It would take the hottest to the mildest with equal aplomb. You'll love it.

I really like the Security Six series guns.

My blued one, below, is one of my favorite guns to pack in the woods and shoot on the range. One handed heat shots at 25 yards are common with me shooting at the range. Yes head shots at 75 feet. It really shoots well.

And yes I really like the other two also! They are all .357 Magnums.

I have my eyes on a Ruger Security Six at the local pawn shop..it looks to be mint condition. Its the stainless version but i believe 6"..not exactly sure. Asking $400..is that tooo much? What would be a fair price?

$400 is not unreasonable if that particular model is in good condition. Good model. They are getting harder to find now.
