.357 Mag ...Period

I believe, whatever you are most accurate with. It's really irrelevent. Maybe you can stop him, maybe not. If I was carrying and decided to shoot, I have already made the decision im not going home. Hopefully at least I can hit the suspect and he then flees, surprised himself to at least regroup and not stand with no cover or conceilment. Back on to the .357, quite the muzzle flash in the dark, you may not be able to find your target with a quick follow up shot.

And to answer someone much earlier, it is very easy to get a gun in CO. Same day for any weapon, no waiting period. You can sell a gun to anyone as a civillian. No paperwork, no contacting any authorities. You can also travel with guns in your car. Hangun can have one in the chamber hammer cocked back, no permit required. Long guns, empty chamber.

Of course the vast majority of people have neither the mindset nor the training. If they do carry, it is with little training other than some plinking at bullseye targets. I would not expect these folks to do anything other than to immediately protect only themselves and family members while trying to escape. It is simply a product of training.

I could argue that's exactly what they *should* be doing.

All this talk about "taking the fight to the bad guy" seems like a very poor plan, regardless of your training. Having a CCW doesn't make you law enforcement, and you don't have all the same rights and responsibilities. If you're right near an exit when the shooting starts, just get the heck out and be a good witness.

My plan assumes being unable to escape with my family. I guess I should've been clearer about that. If I was anywhere near an exit then my responsibility is to assist as many people out of that exit as possible, gun drawn so that if he approaches I can return fire if possible. There have been reports that 3 of the deaths were men using their bodies to shield the women with them. I'm not the only one to think this way. I was talking about close engagement, somewhere around 5' . Close enough so there was no possibility of missing. I think that also would have been close enough to see the armor. I don't see this as law enforcement's job in this case. It's the same sort of responsibility the people on flight 93 had. My family history has scattered all through it people who put their lives in grave danger for others. In all likelihood most of yours do to. If they did it I would hope I was up to it too.

I wish i could remember where that picture was posted on TFL: the CCW FL guy contrasted to the CO theater
That picture was in very poor taste, and there's little equivalence between the two situations.

This hasn't been about revolvers for quite some time, so we'll stick a fork in it before it gets any less coherent.
