.357 for Wife

Jeff,
$300 is a pretty good deal for a stainless SP-101. You might have been able to do better, but you certainly could have done a lot worse.

Glad to hear you found the Ruger at a fair price. Here in NE Ohio you can't find a use SP101. That was a big reason I ended up with a Taurus SS 605. Can't believe my luck with the pistol after reading all the bad reviews in this post. Bought new for under 300 with Uncle Mike grips. I put over 300 .38's and about 150 .357 mag through the gun without a problem. My Mom ended up with by trading me her Security Six. She didn't like the recoil of the 357 mag so she keeps 38+P loaded in the gun. Pistol packin granny.

We're picking it up Thursday ang going straight to the range. Wy wife has done amazingly well with the Taurus 85UL, getting consistant COM groups of 5 inches or less at seven yards. She's looking forward to trying the much heaver Ruger to see if the added weight helps.

We did try some plus P last week from the Taurus...woo hoo what a flamethrower!

No Jeff you didn't get ripped off. You didn't walk away with it but you got a fair deal. The SP-101 is an excellent handgun. I carried one for years as a back-up gun until a recent wrist injury forced me to switch to a lower recoiling Kahr K9. Just make sure your wife gets a good grip on it though. It'll talk to ya from both ends !

I owned a Taurus 85CH for years and never had a problem. The trigger was gritty compared to a S&W but I got what I paid for. I traded it for an AMT Backup in .45 that did NOT work. Should have kept the Taurus.
