.357 for. 41?

I have no doubt that the gun is worth more i know it is i guess im really wondering about the caliber over the gun but thanks for the feed back.

Yep, I'd make the trade in a second. You'll like the 41 mag, I think. It is my favorite "larger than 38spl" caliber in a handgun.

You can search on 41 mag and see a lot of comments on the caliber. It is a good one. I have never seen a 41 mag that didn't shoot well. You can also buy lower powered ammo from GA Arms if you like.

Sometimes I wonder just how many people don't know or realize how unwanted a Taurus is or should be. Makes me really wonder about the guy wanting to make the trade to get the Taurus.

I would also make the trade. I own four 41's, and like the caliber very much. I also have several 357's, but there is just something about the 41 Mag. jben

I have 4 .41Mags and 3 .357Mags. Both great calibers, but I'm more fond of the .41. The Ruger is a much better built gun than the Taurus, something to keep in mind when shooting full magnums.

Never owned or shot a .41, BUT I'd sure like to.

Yea get the .41 Ruger and reload!

There is a pawn shop near here with a real good S&W 57, 4 inch .41. But at $650 smackers, I don't need it (but if I had the money there is a 1917 S&W .45 ACP, almost perfect condition, for $895 and I'd get that cause it's a part of history.)

Anyway yea, a .41 would be cool.

DO IT!

As everyone says, the Blackhawk is the better handgun. .41 mag is a superb hunting round, and the dies are only bought once.

hold on a minute

check the cylinder on the ruger and make sure no chambers are bulging (sp?) and the barrel is bent, etc. If it's ok, go for it.

If you get the .41 mag and start reloading for it I would recomend buying the winchester, or startline brass if you can get it. Remington brass works, and works well. The only drawback is they tend to split at the casemouths several reloadings before the others do.

Oh I not only reload for .41 mag. I also cast lead bullets for it. The Lee TL 210 grain LSWC is awsomely acurate, and I have pushend them up to 1250 FPS out of my 6.5 inch Ruger Blackhawk. It is a fun round. To load for. I load Berry's Plated just like jacketed with AA#9, or H-110 with exelent accuracy, and stifling authorative boom for a report. The Remington 210 grain soft points are hog killers like no tomorrow. I push them with a very warm load of AA#9.

If it is your 'only' .357 ... I'd say keep it and let the .41 pass you by. Otherwise it is up to you. I personally don't see a use for the .41 (but it does have a niche following) as we already have the .44 and .45 calibers. Definitely a reloader's cartridge like my favorite .45 Colt and more expensive to shoot than the .357. Your call.
