340PD : It's a Spicy Meatball

Jim--You've clearly got the actual answer to the problem: RELOAD. My local club shoots informal IDPA on a weekly basis, and one fellow shoots a 640 every week. He is incredibly consistent and accurate with it--I'll certainly never believe any bull about the snub being a mere 'belly-gun' after seeing him shoot. But he also reloads all his stuff, and is clearly shooting pretty light loads; the guys tease him about being able to see the bullets whizing toward their cardboard destinies (they also tease him about the smell of whatever gunpowder he uses--it always smells like burned grits after he shoots!)

BigG, dairycreek--Thanks!

Pocketman--I looked hard at the 442/642, too. With their long record of reliability, I don't think you could go wrong. I couldn't get one for under 450 in my neck of the woods, though, so the price hurdle up to scandium wasn't quite as large. I've never heard anything but praise for the airweights, and I'm sure you'll get years of good use out of yours :)

Good choice Chris W.

I own seven handguns, and always bring at least two to the range each time I go to the range. Since the time I bought my S&W-360Sc to now, it has gone to the range with me every time. Practice makes perfect.
I think I enjoy shooting my 360Sc, with .38+P's more than my386PD or my 686+. I hope you come to enjoy shooting your Scandium gun as much as I do.
