.308 or The New ACC 300 Blackout?

It will fly at about 1k fps. A little more than 1/3 of the velocity of the .308.

Are you wanting to hunt with it? the .308 will be better. Targets? .308 will be better at any distance.

In my not so humble opinion, there is no reason in the world to go with the subsonic rounds, unless you are suppressing the weapon. You can download a .308 into quieter, lower energy rounds, and do anything that the subsonics can do.

The only reason, IMO, for going with the subsonic round, is if you will be using a suppressor, and will have to have subsonic ammo.

To my knowledge, there is no way to create an accurate, effective subsonic round in a .308 that can be used in a semiauto, but maybe it could be done in a bolt. I dnk.

I just don't understand why anyone would want a 300 ACC Blackout in a bolt action over a 308. Its like driving a Ford Pinto when you could have a Mustang for the same price (Actually a little more and not much factory ammo choice either)

Oh wait I figured it out 300 ACC Blackout does sound way tacticooler!!!

The 300AAC blackout is the ARs/american equivalent of the 7.62x39mm, or might as well be since the ballistics are hardly different and very comparable. All thats required to shoot it is a barrel change which is astounding for those that like to shoot the .30 cal round in a semi auto setup and want a AR platform but to use 7.62x39mm ammo or the equivalent.

As palmetto said it really is a pointless bolt rifle.

More offerings in this cartridge from major barrel makers for bolt guns:confused:

I dont really see any use for the blackout round. The 7.62x39 is just as good and handloaded probably better. I just think its an overhyped cartridge. .308 all day.

Well if your running a AR platform it makes perfect since. It definitely has it's niche in the market. I personally don't like the AK platform, so if i want a heavier round it sounds awesome and also makes for a decent truck gun. It might be over hyped but it's not useless. Simply change the barrel out in your AR bam your now launching 147gr .30 projectiles and ballistically have an AK.

Well, the obvious advantage of a .300 bolt rifle would be if you want maximum suppression of a rifle cartridge (say pest problems in an urban area). Not a lot of subsonic 175gr 7.62x39 on the market.

However, unless you were looking to fill that particular niche, I'd generally take the .308 in a bolt rifle.
