.303 British opinions

This usually starts off an internet war, but what the heck.:rolleyes:
Get brass that is mil-spec, not SAAMI, there are small, but significant differences.
Personally I use either HXP Greek surplus, or Prvi Partizan brass exclusively. The shortest case life I've had was 5 loads, the longest 11.
 
you need to look down the barrel and check the depth of the rifling and also VERY IMPORTANTLY - you need to get a 303 bore gauge (ask the dealer and if he doesnt have one - walk away regardless) and insert it from the breech end to check the throat.

checking the throat is very important.

lots of times the wood looks great and the rifling deep, but you cant tell if the throat is good just from looking at it.
 
I have two SMLE and one M-17, the .303 Brit has a real snap to it.... I like the older military rifles, have a couple of older Mausers and other ones, too.
