$300 NRA Life Membership

My wife and I just became life members. The phone number in the OP works. (I just hope it isn't a scam!)

And I hope they don't send me two copies of that magazine. Not sure how they upgrade your membership.
 
In light of today's revelations...

Why aren't more of you signing up?

None of the money you pay for NRA membership goes towards funding the lobbying efforts of the NRA-ILA. That's a separate organization (even though it bears the NRA name).

What it does do for the NRA and its efforts within the NRA-ILA is to increase the numbers of people it represents when the ILA addresses the Congress. The higher the number, the greater the clout!
 
I agree, the NRA does send alot of crap in the mail and email. You can opt out if you go to their website and sign in. I have done this several times and still get crap. They are at least trying to fight for our rights. I just hate the constant asking for more money.
 
I like the NRA - they have done lots of service for gun owners & 2nd amendment rights

I have the life membership and got it for a lesser amount due to the fact that I am a disabled, service-connected veteran.

I have the plaque and get my rifleman mag every month for free so just in that I make my money back since it is for life. you do not ever have to reply to any mailings whether emails or US mail. everyone gets junk mail too, and some peoples definition of junk mail differs from someone elses. as for the emails: they will do this but you can use an email that gets a lot of spam emails already or you could just mark as junk(you still get the emails but you wont even see). personally, sometimes they send some good emails with good info...other times I am not interested.

I can get family members for life too(and a choice of more magazines monthly for life for free:):cool:). I just didn't bother yet; my wife talked me out of it but I agree: they DO offer some GOOD deals!
 
I have a round, circular container for junk mail. NRA, the local Hoggly-Woggly grocery, Tru-Value Hardware, CCRKBA, 2AF, Republican Party, Democratic Party, U of Fla Alumni. It all fits quite nicely, and goes to the dumpster on a weekly basis.

I fail to understand the problem.

I note that all those mailings must be effective in their purpose. If they were not, they would have ceased decades ago.

As for the NRA, I'm unconcerned about anybody's opinion--except that of Congress, which apparently has a great deal of respect for it. (Or maybe fear. I'll settle for fear. :D) The NRA's influence is second only to AARP.

And I should pay $300 for the privilege of being put on a list that says I support 2A?

I signed up for a "free" one year membership several years ago. Considering the correspondence I continue to receive almost daily addressing me as a member, I think I manged to add my name to that roll at no cost(beyond the incessant mailings).

When I sopped paying my "Popular Woodworking" subscription and they called me to tell me I was part of a "key advertising demographic" and would continue to send me the magazine at no charge I was way happier though.
 
I guess I'm not as brassed off as some seem to get at having to delete a few emails a week, or toss an occaisonal piece of mail in the fireplace. If my rights and freedom are well defended, the trifling inconvenience is just that : trifling, and not a reason to refuse to help shoulder the burden of defending the 2nd Amendment.

Just signed up via the 888 number. Hope it's legit or I'm out $300.

I agree that the NRA is not perfect but then again neither am I. After we win the battle against the extreme left/anti-gun folks we can sort out our dirty laundry but for now we have to support not only the NRA but all hunting/shooting lobbying groups or we don't have a snow ball chance in defeating them.
 
Want to keep your firearms join the NRA or other group you like, money talks, if we had all firearm owners in the NRA I believe we would have very few problems with new gun laws.

I would suggest perhaps rather then life memberships purchase a membeship for a buddy low on funds or family members, that is what I've done to build NRA numbers.

We need an advocacy group in DC and like it or not the NRA is our best shot, pardon the pun.;)

Thanks for letting me know. I was paying off my life membership, but now I don't need to. I became a life member today. The number still works by the way, and no sponsor is needed.
 
It's legit.

That number and the offer are good through February 28.

I set up that special phone number three weeks ago because it was taking too long on hold with the regular NRA membership line.

We announced the number on my radio show (Gun Talk) and sent out the info in the Gun Talk Truth Squad newsletter. As of today, we are well past 6,000 new life members and $2 million in revenue for the NRA.

Way to go, everyone! Spread the info. This is a great deal.

(And before anyone asks, no, I don't get a cent out of this.)

Some people are reporting that it's taking 10 days for the NRA to charge their credit cards. They are swamped. Be patient.
