Nope, it would have been a certain unnamed gunstore called Blue Ridge Arsenal when I worked for them back in the early/mid 1990s.
That was under the previous owner, who tended to be a grasping, greedy individual who tried to squeeze every dime out of every transaction.
His pricing model generally was MSPR + a percentage.
When the market started falling out of "assault rifles" after the buying panic associated with the 1994 law started to calm down, he was left holding the bag on several Maadi Griffin AKs for which he had paid more than they were now bringing.
He was perfectly content to leave them sit on the racks and take up space on the off chance that someone would buy them rather than cut his losses and get at least some cash back.
While we sold guns, I'm pretty sure that it was the range that kept the business afloat.
I didn't realize that Gilbert's had the same pricing strategy for transfers.
Oh, here's the sad thing...
A lot of times had we taken new item transfers, even with the fee and the surcharge, the price would have been less than the price of the same gun in the showcase.
